Theatre Review: Save The Last Dance For Me (UK Tour)

21 September 2016 1:30 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Save The Last Dance For Me review (UK Tour): It’s back to the British seaside of yesteryear in this foot-tapping new musical from the creatives behind Dreamboats and Petticoats.

Save The Last Dance For Me review by Katey Thompson, September 2016.

Save The Last Dance For Me review

Save The Last Dance waltzes you back to an era of typical British seaside holidays, with candy floss, ice creams and rock and roll. The production, written by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman, surrounds you with the instantly recognisable songs from bands of the day, including The Drifters, Elvis Presley, Ray Charles, Ben E King and Booker T and the MGs.

The show opens with Jennifer (Lola Saunders) and Marie (Elizabeth Carter) planning their first summer holiday without their parents in uptown Lowestoft. They have wildly different ideas of what their perfect summer holiday would be and find anything but what they had imagined. »

20 Most Popular Shows On WWE Network

26 March 2016 12:28 PM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

WWE has released the information on the most popular shows currently airing on the WWE Network. With a subscriber number hovering at around 1.2 million, the network has introduced an impressive amount of original programming in its two-plus years of existence, although many feel that the company could be utilizing the service in a much more effective way.

The list of shows is interesting in the sense that it shows the enormous popularity of a new original series, confirms that Nxt is a strong selling point for subscribers and proves that the big events continue to amass interest among viewers. It also reaffirms WWE’s claims that the archive footage, while a huge attraction for hardcore fans, is among the least-viewed content available on the streaming service. It also highlights the effectiveness of the live stream for opening shows up to an audience.

WWE Raw 03.21.16 Recap & Review – Huge Announcement Regarding ‘Taker’s future, Kevin Owens vs. Aj Styles, Roman Reigns & more

22 March 2016 2:23 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Raw rolled into the Wells Centre in Philiadelphia with Wrestlemania only 2 weeks away.  Vince McMahon had a huge announcement regarding the match between Shane O’Mac and The Undertaker at the biggest show of the year, whilst Roman Reigns had more in store for The Authority following his attack on Triple H last week…

The “Road To Wrestlemania” made a stop in Philly for the March 21st edition of Monday Night Raw.   There aren’t many cities louder and more passionate and Philly when it comes to crowds, but not even their enthusiasm could make this show anything worth writing home about.   The excitement for the grandest show of the air is palpable at this time, but the Road has been a little bumpy this year as WWE’s stagnant product continues to cure insomnia every Monday night.

WWE 24 Returns With Daniel Bryan Retirement Tribute

The acclaimed WWE Network documentary series WWE 24 will return with its newest episode on March 28th with a special dedicated to Daniel Bryan.

Titled WWE 24: Thank You Daniel, the show will air immediately after the conclusion of Monday Night Raw.

WWE have released the following synopsis for the show:

Don’t miss this WWE Network special, as WWE 24 cameras take you behind the scenes with new and exclusive footage of Bryan’s exciting career.

WWE is also encouraging viewers to share video messages for the popular retired superstar to social media using the hashtag #Thankyoudaniel and are promoting the opportunity to see your video appear in the program. This is a unique idea and a perfect example of an interactive way to tie in the Network and social media and something that WWE should look to do more of in the future.

WWE Opening Physical Hall of Fame

Our top story today is a huge announcement for Wrestlemania 33. And no, it’s not what you’re thinking of.

The WWE have announced that Wrestlemania 33 will be returning to Orlando, Florida – taking place in the Citrus Bowl on the 2nd April, 2017. But that isn’t our scoop here.

According to our source at Attractions Management magazine, they will also be opening a physical Hall of Fame there.

This makes perfect sense, as Orlando is the location of the WWE Performance Centre, and where Nxt is filmed. Until now, the Hall of Fame is something that’s just existed on a web page and Vince McMahon’s head. »

11 Talented Wrestlers Who Felt Forced To Quit WWE

17 February 2016 2:59 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

In June, Wade Barrett will be done with WWE unless there’s drastic changes. He’s reportedly not happy with how he’s being pushed, and who could blame him? He has the look, the in-ring skills and the poise of a main event talent. Hell, the man Did main event mutliple pay-per-views in 2010. But that was six years ago, and his current incarnation as King Barrett means almost nothing to the company.

Unless there’s something big we don’t know about Barrett behind-the-scenes, then this is all on WWE. For a company starving for top stars, they’ve given him so many start-and-stop pushes that it’s maddening to watch, let alone live through. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time a great talent has felt forced out of the company. Sure, they could stay employed for years, watching others leapfrog them on the roster, or »

10 Ways A Brand Split Would Help WWE Right Now

11 February 2016 9:48 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

One topic that divides wrestling fans in 2016 is whether WWE should go back to a brand split or keep the roster together.

The first WWE brand split occurred in 2002 when WWF had hired a bunch of ex-wcw & Ecw stars along with the contracts they adopted from the 2001 WCW purchase.

Initially, the two rosters were positively stacked as Raw had Steve Austin, Booker T, The Undertaker and the nWo while SmackDown had Hulk Hogan, The Rock, Chris Benoit, Edge and Kurt Angle. The idea was for both shows to stay separate, except during pay-per-view events where there would be Raw matches and SmackDown matches and, in time, they could have inter-promotional ‘dream matches’.

Sadly, in the end it didn’t quite work out and the rules of the brand split were adhered to less and less as the years went by. Eventually in 2012, the two brands merged and the »

11 Most Underrated Wrestling Tag Teams That Were Short Lived

8 January 2016 5:16 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

There are some things in this life that just seem to fit together perfectly: Peanut butter and jelly, fish and chips, Matthew McConaughey and not wearing shirts. It’s almost as if certain things are meant to be together, brought side-by-side with a little help from fate. Or Vince McMahon. Whichever.

Some of the most exciting and unusual moments in wrestling have sprouted from the tag team division. And some of those moments are so exciting because the tag teams involved are so unusual. There’s a rather storied history of kooky duos doing things together that nobody could have imagined.

And it can take a lot of trial and error before the truly stellar tag teams are formed. Not all great tandems come out of the womb that way (but good on ya, Hardy Boyz). Sometimes you have to mix-and-match several different combinations before you find the one that fits. »

10 Worst WWE Hardcore Champions Of All Time

5 January 2016 3:17 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

Over the course of four years, the Hardcore Championship changed hands 240 different times. That should tell you everything you need to know about the quality of this division.

To be fair, there were some legitimately terrific hardcore matches, and a few guys carried the title like pros. But for the most part, it was just a haphazard, silly little distraction from the real competition happening in the WWE. Maybe if they’d kept guys like Mick Foley involved (he was the first one to be awarded the belt, but only held it once before quickly ascending to main event status), the division would have stood a chance at legitimacy.

As it happened, the division was sometimes fun to watch in a “Why are they still allowing this ridiculousness to be televised?” sort of way, but that was about the extent of it. Most diehard fans viewed it as a gimmick title, »

22 Wtf Moments From WWE SmackDown (31 Dec)

2 January 2016 12:17 PM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

This week’s New Year’s Eve edition of Smackdown marks the show’s final airing on SyFy before it moves to the USA Network, but if you thought that the WWE would be going all out for it, on a fluffy seasonal episode of the B-show no less, you thought dead wrong.

Smackdown naturally didn’t do much to capitalise on the fallout of this past week’s hysterical Raw episode, but it unexpectedly brought one angle to a close, and of course acted as a sound-board for King’s verbal diarrhea, which is always an uneasy mix of hilarious and embarrassing.

Booker T sounded like he was drunk on several occasions, the show was obviously edited in several sections, and a fan asked Dolph Ziggler the question we all want to know.

Here are 22 Wtf moments from the final WWE Smackdown of 2015…
