Sci-fi & Horror Red Carpet Party Saturday Night, September 17th, at the Burbank Film Fest!

With the Burbank International Film Festival currently in full swing (it’s running through Sunday, September 18th), filmmaker/genre personality Jeff Rector tipped us off to the Sci-fi & Horror Red Carpet Party he’s hosting in conjunction with the fest tomorrow night, Saturday, September 17th. Read on for information on the genre-studded event honoring the legendary Roger Corman, including how to purchase tickets.

“I am hosting the first ever Night of Science-Fiction, Fantasy & Horror and the Red Carpet After Party,” said Rector of the event, which will take place at Tdj Studios (10815 Burbank Blvd. in North Hollywood) from 10:00 pm to 3:00 am. “We will be honoring legendary filmmaker Roger Corman with the ‘Pioneer Award’ and will have an open bar, full buffet and red carpet with DJ Starlett spinning in the 6,000-square-foot space. Assorted horror DVD news

• Fango got the scoop on street dates for a trio of horror titles coming to DVD in late summer/fall. Dark Sky Films revealed when you’ll be able to pick up Marcel Sarmiento and Gadi Harel’s fest-acclaimed Deadgirl and Gregory Mandry’s Brit shocker Gnaw, while Genius Products has announced its slot for Philippe Martinez’s The Chaos Experiment.

Deadgirl, which begins with a couple of teenaged guys discovering a naked, chained, apparently undead young woman in an abandoned mental facility—and one deciding to have his way with her—arrives September 15, while Gnaw, about vacationers who stumble upon a house full of cannibals (see previous item here), arrives August 11. Chaos Experiment, about a psychotic professor (Val Kilmer) attempting to prove his global-warming theories by imprisoning six people in a steam room (see first set report here), is coming August 4. Simon Says, slitherin’ snakes and more DVD news

Crispin Glover fans have no doubt been wondering what happened to Simon Says, the indie slasher opus starring the eccentric actor as homicidal twins, which was made nearly three years ago and has only made a few festival appearances in North America since. Well, the wait is finally over.

Lionsgate Home Entertainment will release the William Dear-written/directed flick on DVD June 23. The cast also includes From Within’s Margo Harshman and Kelly Blatz, Greg Cipes, Carrie Finklea, Kelly Vitz, Artie Baxter, veteran actor Bruce Glover and Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively along with her siblings Lori and Robyn and their father Ernie, and the disc will contain a widescreen transfer with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, a filmmaker audio commentary and possibly other extras. Retail price is $26.98.

Genius Products will give Sea Beast, the latest Sci Fi Channel creature feature from Snakehead Terror and Yeti director Paul Ziller, its DVDebut
