Octavia Spencer knows what it's like to be center stage at the Oscars -- she won Best Supporting Actress at the 2012 Academy Awards for her role in "The Help" -- and she's looking to get back in that spotlight.
The 42-year-old actress chatted with HuffPost about her upcoming flick "Fruitvale," which just walked away with the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award for U.S. Drama at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
"'Fruitvale' was a project that resonated with me on a personal level and I thought that it’s about time that we bring this issue to the forefront, so that we can have meaningful discourse about our humanity and how we interact with each other," she told HuffPost, adding that the film needed some backup. "I jumped onboard because it was a very, very small project and sometimes if a project is that small, »

Anthology film The Profane Exhibit has been in the works for some time now, but things are moving along with casting news for the wrap-around along with more detailed descriptions of the various segments and quotes from a few directors. It's a lot of good stuff so prepare to be here awhile.
From the Press Release:
The producers of “The Profane Exhibit” are excited to announce that both Tony Todd (pictured) and Bai Ling have join the long-awaited horror anthology. They will be featured in the cast of "22 Rue des Martyrs," written by Ray Garton, which serves as the film's wrap-around segment.
David Bond and Manda Manuel are the architects of what is likely the most daring independent horror film project to date, both in concept and scope. Assembling an almost surreal collection of over 100 horror icons (directors, writers, actors, musicians, etc.), Bond's vision is to present the audience with »

Nobody Gets Out Alive is writer/director Jason Christopher’s love letter to slasher films of the 70′s and 80′s, and the movie was released this week to DVD by Image Entertainment. I recently had the chance to catch up with Jason, and we talked about putting together his first feature, his love of directing over writing, and what’s next:
Why did you decide on Nobody Gets Out Alive as your first feature film and what movies inspired the story?
Jason Christopher: 90′s horror movies just didn’t do it for me because there was a completely different vibe from the 70′s and 80′s horror movies. Then Scream came out and horror movies started to pick up again. I think the last best slasher of the 80′s was Intruder in 1989.
I always wanted to write a script that was my thanks to the 70′s and 80′s slasher genre. »

Welcome to the "Arrested Development" Rewatch. Leading up to the release of Season 4, Zap2it will be taking a look back at the 53 episodes that made the show one of our most beloved TV comedies.Watch the first three seasons of "Arrested Development" on Netflix. We continue with episode 4 of Season 1, "Key Decisions," which first aired Nov. 23, 2003.
"Key Decisions" isn't as fall-off-the-couch funny as a couple of the previous episodes of "Arrested Development," but it sets up a whole lot of things for the future of the series.
We get to meet the other Lucille, we see Michael fall for a woman at the wrong time -- which becomes a recurring theme -- and we see a lot of the tortured relationship between George Sr. and Gob. Even a seemingly throwaway line about Tobias' whereabouts (David Cross isn't in the episode) sets up the recurring role Carl Weathers will have later in the series. »

If you are skeptical about veteran rocker Rob Zombie‘s talents as a horror filmmaker you might be pleasantly surprised with his latest twisted horror creation, The Lords of Salem, starring Sheri Moon Zombie as Heidi.
I’m also not the biggest fun of the witchcraft horror movies, or Zombie’s previous films either, but The Lords of Salem is finally getting set to have a theatrical release and the second trailer has arrived online, a bit more conventional than the previously released one, but still skewed toward Zombie fans.
The flick centers on a small radio station DJ, Heidi who receives a musical gift that appears to have awoken a powerful coven of witches, so upon listening to the vinyl she begins to have strange flashbacks and questions if the Lords of Salem are coming back to take their revenge.
Also starring Clint Howard, Bruce Davison, Sid Haig, Jeffrey Daniel Phillips, »

In theaters on April 19th, here’s a look at the trailer and poster for Rob Zombie’s upcoming shocker. The Lords Of Salem looks like a return to form for Mr. Zombie, who has directed since the little-seen animated Haunted World Of El Superbeasto. No one really liked his Halloween films and it’s been 8 years since his masterpiece The Devil’S Rejects so here’s hoping Zombie stays true to the style that made that film so memorable. The Lords Of Salem looks like a throwback to the satanic horror films of the ’70s (The Devil’S Rain, Mephisto Waltz etc) and Zombie has assembled another stellar retro cast including Bruce Davison, Dee Wallace, Meg Foster, Barbara Crampton, Judy Geeson, Michael Berryman, Sid Haig, Clint Howard, Camile Keaton, Udo Keir, Richard Lynch (in his final role), Lisa Marie, and more. Look for more coverage of The Lords Of Salem »

If you’re a child of the 1980’s, you’ll likely remember Ami Dolenz for her roles on films like Can’t Buy Me Love, She’s Out of Control, and Miracle Beach and guest spots on Silver Spoons, Webster, and Saved by the Bell: The College Years. She even played Sloan in the short-lived TV adaptation of Ferris Bueller. The actress, however, is no stranger to the horror genre as she’s had parts in films from Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings to the greatest (and quite possibly only) movie ever made about giant killer ticks, Ticks. Tony Randel’s 1993 flick is an absolute blast and an obvious time capsule of early 90’s movie clichés, in the very best way possible.
With Olive Films’ new Blu-ray of Ticks recently hitting stores, FEARnet sat down with Dolenz to discuss her memories of the film, Seth Green’s hair, and creepy crawlies. »

Jack Palance kisses mice. Teri Hatcher plays drums. Just two of the many remarkable things we've discovered in Tango & Cash...
In this occasional series of 'remarkable things' articles, we've mostly focused exclusively on movies that were critical or financial flops. Previous entries have included Jaws: The Revenge, Battlefield Earth and RoboCop 3, which all suffered in both critics' reviews and at the box office.
This time, our choice isn't a notorious flop at all - it's Tango & Cash, a film which actually made a few million dollars more than it cost to make. At this stage in Sylvester Stallone's career, which featured the critical and financial nightmares Rocky V, Oscar and Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot, Tango & Cash was a comparative blockbuster.
In terms of critical reception, though, Tango & Cash fared less well. It was nominated for three Razzies (though won precisely none) and reviews »
