Mini Bio (1)

Nico Hofmann was born to journalist parents in Heidelberg in December 1959. Since 1998 he served as producer and Chairman of the board of teamWorx, one of Germany's most suc-cessful production companies. Over the last 15 years numerous well-known TV and film awards as well as national and international nominations give impressive evidence of team-Worx' competence in the fictional field: Productions such as "The Tunnel", "Dresden", "Hindenburg", "March of Millions", "The Tower", "Open the Wall" and "Naked among Wolves" have won some of the most prestigious media prizes and have been sold to many territories outside Germany. Since 2013, Nico Hofmann served as producer and Chairman of the Board of UFA FICTION, which unifies all fictional activities of UFA Fernsehproduktion, Phoenix Film and teamWorx.

The multi-million-euro project "Generation War" sparked long-lasting and nation-wide de-bates in Germany. The highly acclaimed miniseries has reached record ratings in Germany, Poland, Norway and Sweden and has been sold to more than 100 countries all over the world. The production has won a great number of national and international awards including the International Emmy Award 2014 in the mini-series category. One of Hofmann's most recent success stories is the eight-part series "Deutschland83". It has been sold to 38 broadcast-ers and SVOD platforms globally, which took the series to over 110 territories worldwide. "Deutschland83" became the first German-language drama series to air successfully on US television. The series won several national and international awards such as the Interna-tional Emmy Award. The second season - "Deutschland86" - will premiere in Germany on Amazon Prime Video in 2018. Nico Hofmann has also produced cinematographic works such as "The Physician", an adaptation of the world bestseller, which attracted more than four million spectators in Germany alone. The film version of the bestseller "Ich bin dann mal weg" (I'm off then) by German comedian Hape Kerkeling was released at the end of 2015 and was another huge hit at the box office.

His latest works are the miniseries "Ku'Damm 56", "The Same Sky" 56, and the historic series "Charité". Due to its success, a second season of "Ku'Damm 56", called "Ku'Damm 59", is in the making right now. The second season of "Charité" and a movie about the lives of the world-renowned magicians Siegfried and Roy are currently in preparation. UFA FICTION has also struck a deal with the best-selling author, Robert Harris, to produce the TV adaptation of his latest novel, "Munich". The international co-production between FremantleMedia's Euston Films and UFA FICTION will be shot in the UK and Germany.

Nico Hofmann himself has received many awards for his achievements as a director and producer including the German Television Award (five times), the BAMBI and Goldene Ka-mera (two times each). Last year he was awarded the honorary prize of the 37th Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis honoring his promotion of young German film talents.

In September 2017 Nico Hofmann became sole CEO of German film and television produc-tion company UFA. This move follows a two-year transition-period, announced back in Sep-tember 2015, in which Wolf Bauer and Nico Hofmann have headed UFA as Co-CEOs.
