Former child actor of the 1950s who became a familiar face on British television from the mid-1960s onwards, firstly as Patrick Troughton's faithful companion, Jamie, in "Doctor Who" and then as Joe Sugden in Yorkshire TV's rural soap opera "Emmerdale Farm". After leaving the latter for the second time his character was killed off.
IMDb Mini Biography By: Allen DaceFrazer Hines was born on 22 September 1944 in Horsforth, Yorkshire. He studied acting at the Corona Academy and made his professional debut at the age of eight. By the age of fifteen he had appeared in six films. Further stage, TV and film work followed. After his three-year stint as Jamie in Doctor Who he resumed the life of a jobbing actor until 1972, when he was cast in the soap opera "Emmerdale Farm" as Joe Sugden - a role he has played ever since. In between making episodes of Emmerdale, as it was renamed in the eighties, he has continued a career in the theatre and made occasional appearances in other TV shows, including two Doctor Who reunion stories, "The Five Doctors" and "The Two Doctors." He is also a noted amateur jockey.
