1 December 2016 10:26 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Rising star Jacob Latimore, who will next be seen alongside Will Smith in the drama Collateral Beauty, plays a street magician whose skills are beyond comprehension in the first trailer for Sleight. This teaser shows that Jacob Latimore's character Bo can do much more than your average card tricks. The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival back in January, where it was quickly picked up by Jason Blum's Blumhouse Productions and WWE Studios.

MTV debuted the first teaser trailer, which includes a few quotes from critics who caught the film at Sundance, some of whom state the film is a cross between Chronicle and Iron Man. Sleight, which premiered as part of the festival's Next section, is a dramatic thriller that blends science fiction and street magic in a tale set in Los Angeles. The film has been set for release on April 7, 2017, which »

30 November 2016 3:06 PM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"We can do whatever we want if we just believe we're able to." Blumhouse Tilt has released a brief teaser trailer for a film titled Sleight, which premiered in the ultra-low budget Next section of the Sundance Film Festival in January. Sleight is about a street magician in Los Angeles who gives himself superpowers and takes on a local drug dealer to save his sister. Jacob Latimore plays Bo, also featuring Seychelle Gabriel, Dulé Hill, Storm Reid, Sasheer Zamata, Michael Villar, Brandon Johnson & Cameron Esposito. The film received quite a bit of positive praise at Sundance. I wrote in my review that "it's a fairly simple story, but the film is still awesome." It's an impressive little homemade indie that's worth catching. Here's the first teaser trailer (+ Sundance poster) for J.D. Magic Knows No Bounds in First Teaser for Sundance Hit ‘Sleight’

30 November 2016 12:20 PM, PST | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

With the laughably incompetent Now You See Me franchise being the current standard for Hollywood when it comes to magician-related films, we must turn to the independent side of filmmaking for a saving grace. Premiering to strong reviews at Sundance earlier this year, Sleight follows a young street magician who must use his skills to save his family. Picked up by WWE Studios and Blumhouse Productions after its premiere, we now have the first teaser ahead of a spring release.

The directorial debut of Jd Dillard (who also has a project in development at Bad Robot, where he was once a receptionist), while it only runs a little over half-a-minute, the first preview has no shortage of style and intrigue. Starring Jacob Latimore, Dulé Hill, Seychelle Gabriel, Storm Reid, Sasheer Zamata, and Cameron Esposito, check out the teaser below.
