Astro Boy Teaser Trailer

24 November 2008 3:40 PM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

The first teaser trailer for the upcoming CGI adaptation of long-running anime series Astro Boy has finally hit the Web and it looks…pretty cool, actually.

If you haven’t seen any of the Astro Boy TV series that have come and gone since the 1950’s, the story tells of a distant future in which a brilliant inventor (voiced by Nicholas Cage) creates the world’s ultimate battle robot in the guise of his dead son. Hoping to win his “father’s” numbed affections, Astro Boy sets off on a heroic journey, battling other robot gladiators and defending Metro City from the villains who would destroy it. He even manages to find a girlfriend along the way (voiced by queen of the fanboys, Kristen Bell).

Check out the Trailer.

Trailer - The Anime Update 'Astro Boy'

22 November 2008 11:06 AM, PST | GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news »

This will only take a minute, I promise. It's the new teaser trailer for Astro Boy, based on the Japanese Manga classic from the 1950s. You've missed the boat if you haven't heard of Astro Boy (or Astroboy), since the character has been merchandised to death in the past half century and has had a few TV shows to his credit, as well. It's commonly credited with being a kind of grandfather of anime, and its creator, Osamu Tezuka, is known as the "God of Manga."

Summit Entertainment, which has had a pretty good 24 hours, will distribute a new 3-D movie version of Astro Boy in 2009, featuring the voices of Nic Cage, Freddie Highmore, and Kristen Bell. Here's a quick teaser trailer that, if you've ever been a fan of the character, will show you a little about how much and how little has changed over the years.

Trailer Park: Wrestling With The Truth About Trek

22 November 2008 9:02 AM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

Trailers? Oh yeah, we got your trailers here.

Star Trek

Like a lot of people, I got my first glimpse of this one when it played with Quantam of Solace last weekend. While this will obviously play hell with Star Trek continuity, I am one Trek geek who is looking forward to the J.J. Abrams take on the franchise. It opens on May 8.

Astro Boy

Here's a teaser for the CGI animated adaptation of the classic anime about a robot boy built by a scientist to replace the son he lost. The trailer doesn't give us much to go on, but the impressive voice cast includes Freddie Highmore, Nicolas Cage, Kristen Bell, Donald Sutherland, Eugene Levy, and Nathan Lane. Things get cosmic on October 23.

Coraline

I find it odd that Neil Gaiman's name isn't mentioned in the trailer, since the film is based on his novella. Gaiman isn't a »

First Astroboy Teaser Now Online

21 November 2008 12:11 AM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

The teaser trailer for Summit Entertainment's Astro Boy, the animated film adapted from Osamu Tezuka’s classic manga, has just gone online over at Moviefone. The film, directed by Flushed Away’s David Bowers, is a variation on the Pinocchio story, telling the tale of a robotic boy with incredible powers, created by a brilliant scientist in the image of his dead son.Initially rejected by the scientist, Astro Boy goes on a journey of acceptance, before returning to the futuristic Metro City to do battle with evil forces and bond with his ‘father’. Sounds like it could be a belter – and the teaser trailer, featuring suitably manga-esque character designs and some great shots of Astro Boy soaring through the skies and then burrowing through a mountain, his eyes glowing ghostly blue, is brief, but does more than enough to whet the appetite.
