Nostalgic Photos from the Golden Age of Wrestling: The WWF

The WWE today is still in full swing and is more popular than ever before but back in the day, when guys like Triple H, the Undertaker, and even Shawn Michaels were just getting started, the legends of the WWE, then WWF, ring still held sway. Greats like the Macho Man Randy Savage (ooooohh yeeeeah!), Hulk Hogan, Rick Rude, Andre the Giant, and many, many more were already legends in their own time and needed no introduction. Back in those days man, wrestling was still something to be in awe of, and if you said it was staged then you

Oli Davis rounds up the biggest professional wrestling news in his daily WrestleTalk column…

How Tjp Got His Name

You might’ve noticed in recent weeks that Cruiserweight competitor Tj Perkins started going by the much faster to say abbreviation Tjp – meaning Cruiserweight matches on Raw can now be even shorter. But apparently word efficiency isn’t the only reason behind the name change.

On a recent episode of the Bryan and Vinny Show, Bryan Alvarez claimed Tjp is now so named because Vince McMahon hates the restaurant chain Perkins:

“Vince apparently Hates “Perkins”. He hates it, and he thinks it sucks…and he thinks that if people hear Tj Perkins, they’re gonna think of the f****** restaurant. So now he’s Tjp.”

This is yet another example of Vince’s food preferences potentially affecting WWE programming – with Chris Jericho revealing last week that his Wyatt Family / Shawn Michaels »

Oli Davis rounds up the biggest professional wrestling news in his daily WrestleTalk column…

A Wild Vince McMahon Appears!

Being 71 years old and having repeatedly revolutionised the professional wrestling business, you’d think WWE Chairman Vince McMahon would be taking it easier in his seventh decade. Especially because he’s rather prone to randomly tearing quads. But he still refuses to skip leg day.

Review: Lucha Underground: All Night Long...Again

31 May 2017 9:38 PM, PDT | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

Lucha Underground has returned tonight on El Rey Network for their Mid-Season Premiere. Tonight's episode saw Lucha Underground Champion Johnny Mundo face off against challenger The Mack in an All Night Long match.

What is an All Night Long match you may be asking? Simple. It's an Iron Man match taking place during the run time for the episode. Iron Man matches are tough to pull off. In the days where the audience was not exactly aware of the fact that what they were seeing was entertainment, pulling off hour long matches would be the norm. The biggest wrestling organization until Vince McMahon came along was the National Wrestling Alliance. They would send their champion to territories around the world facing challengers in matches that routinely went an hour. While the matches mostly ended up in a draw, the popular wrestler in a territory would end the match looking like »

WWE Backlash: The Five Best Matches in the Event’s History

19 May 2017 10:15 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

In preparation for this Sunday’s event, Liam Hoofe takes a look back at the best matches in the history of WWE Backlash

The return of WWE Backlash last year was met with an enthusiastic response from the WWE Universe, and with good reason. The PPV, which traditionally followed on from WrestleMania, has given us some great shows since its birth in 1999. The PPV itself would often be a better wrestling event than WrestleMania in fact, with it effectively being a re-run of the card with all of the pomp and spectacle removed.

Needless to say, the show has given us many great matches and moments over the years as well. So to get you warmed up for this Sunday’s upcoming event, here is a look back at some of the best matches from the PPV’s history, and no, Shawn Michaels and God Vs The McMahons didn’t make the list. »

WWE WrestleMania 33 Review

3 April 2017 7:25 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Liam Hoofe reviews WrestleMania 33…

Well, what a night that was. Clocking in at over 7 hours Wrestlemania 33 was quite the endurance test (finishing at 6:10am in my time-zone.) For once, though, the length of the event felt justified and WWE delivered a truly great Wrestlemania that will be fondly remembered for years to come.

With 13 matches to get through, let’s begin my match by match breakdown of last night’s crazy event.

Pre-Show: Neville defeated Austin Aries

This one really should have been on the main show. Neville and Aries delivered a cracking match to get the pre show started and further cemented Neville as the Mvp of the Cruiserweight division.

Aries looked really strong in his PPV debut and the top rope spots were awesome, I could watch Neville hit the Red Arrow all day.

Neville retaining through nefarious measures mean we are likely to see more matches »

The Undertaker: a look at his 23-1 WrestleMania record

Gavin Jasper Apr 3, 2017

As the Undertaker announces his retirement, we look back at his Wrestlemania record...

This article is from Den Of Geek Us.

WrestleMania XXX was an eventful show. It calmed the fears of those afraid that it would crash the WWE Network and cause major damage to the company's latest venture. Cesaro broke away from his tag team and broke out by winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Trophy. Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, and the Rock hung out in the ring and had a blast. Mr. T and Roddy Piper buried the hatchet. Daniel Bryan went through an endless supply of punishment before being defeating Triple H, Randy Orton, and Batista.

That was a big moment and a major story, but the thing people will be talking about for a long time is the end of Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar. For the first time ever, Undertaker lost at »

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs The Rock- Wrestlemania 17

“Shaking hands with Satan himself.”

Wrestlemania 17, hands down, is the best Wrestlemania booked to date. Apart from a horribly short Women’s Championship match with Chyna facing off against Ivory, from the opening match to the main event, every match was great.

The main event of the show was "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs The Rock. The previous year, Austin had been recovering from long needed neck surgery sustained at the hands of Owen Hart at Summerslam 1997. During his time away, superstars like The Rock and Triple H stepped up their game and became main event players in their own right. When you are out of action for close to a year, there is a very real fear that by the time you get back in the ring you would have lost a step or two. Or worse, that the fans would »

10 Best Wrestlemania Matches To Watch On The WWE Network Part 1

29 March 2017 5:12 PM, PDT | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

It’s that time of year again. Wrestlemania is soon upon us. This event has become the most important event in professional wrestling, showcasing the best of the best of the sport putting on the show of their lives. With Wrestlemania appearing this Sunday on the WWE Network, I thought I’d take the time to discuss my ten favorite Wrestlemania matches, matches that to me epitomize everything that is great about the event. Like any list, it is purely subjective so if you disagree with anything or feel I left something out, let’s discuss it in the comments below.

Hulk Hogan vs Andre the Giant- Wrestlemania 3

“The irresistible force meeting the immovable object!”

Without Wrestlemania 3, it’s possible that Wrestlemania could have gone the way of Starrcade. The first two Wrestlemania’s, while star studded and showing some glimpses of what the event eventually became, were more events of their time. »

WWE Raw stars jumping to Smackdown? Shawn Michaels offered Wrestlemania 33 match

24 March 2017 8:40 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Last November, Rock ‘The Dwayne’ Johnson delighted audiences with his portrayal of the demigod Maui in the Disney animated movie Moana. The film has made over $600 million at the global box office since. An impressive haul – considering at least one person contributed nothing towards it.

The Rock’s kind-of-relative Roman Reigns (their grandfathers were blood brothers) has revealed on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning whether he’d seen the movie: “Once, and it was bootlegged…so yeah, sorry Rock.”

Reigns committed a crime without facing any substantial consequences. Which probably means he is moving to Smackdown. Hell, he’d probably get a WWE Championship shot.

Two other Raw wrestlers have also been rumoured for a Smackdown move. Squared Circle Sirens have reported Summer Rae – who’s been out with a shoulder injury since last August – has been at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando to get medically cleared to return to the ring. »

WWE insults Cm Punk on website, Jeff Hardy wants WWE return

The Internet is an incredible invention – an outsourcing of human memory and knowledge. A hive mind for the world, allowing people to communicate around the globe in a matter of microseconds. In my opinion, it’s the biggest social change since the Industrial Revolution. But it’s also responsible for naming a research ship Boaty McBoatFace.

Last year, the Natural Environment Research Council launched a Twitter campaign called #NameOurShip. The Internet gave the most votes to Boaty McBoatFace.

So I don’t know what Tna owners Anthem are thinking asking fans on the Internet to name the owl in their logo, a contest that has now been extended for another week.

Due to the overwhelming amount of submissions, we are extending the contest by 1 week! Next Monday we name a winner! #AnthemOwl pic.twitter.com/Uf7uNj0wiN

WWE Monday Night Raw Reaction 3/13/2017

15 March 2017 12:11 AM, PDT | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

We're less than twenty days to Wrestlemania and Monday Night Raw is in the books. As we head toward the WWE's biggest show of the year, we saw Brock Lesnar make an appearance hyping his match against Goldberg at Wrestlemania, Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe faced off against Sami Zayn and Chris Jericho in a tag team match, and Roman Reigns have a discussion with the legendary Shawn Michaels discussing Roman's upcoming match against The Undertaker. How did the Red Brand of the WWE stack up?

The opening of the show with Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar was another instance of Paul Heyman giving a free lesson in how to give a promo in the ring. On his worst night, Paul Heyman is better on the mic than most people that have ever laced up boots in the history of professional wrestling. Brock Lesnar himself seemed more animated than he usually does in the ring, »

Down Goes Goldberg

“Down goes Goldberg!” is Paul Heyman’s latest catchphrase, which he used several times when talking about Brock Lesnar’s F5 on the Universal Champion last Monday. Despite Lesnar’s impressive muscles, there was no real meat here. Just Heyman trying to advance a feud between two guys where neither wrestles anyone else on TV. Eat, sleep, conquer, repeat the same basic promo points over and over again.

Foley’s On Fire!

Stephanie McMahon then gave Mick Foley a fun task backstage – by the end of the night, he has to find someone to fire from the Raw roster. Titus O’Neil-oh, wait he’s doing the tortured decision thing.
