Paul Hewitt has been upped to the top PR post at the CW, succeeding Paul McGuire, who yesterday was named Svp worldwide corporate communications for Warner Bros. Entertainment. McGuire, in turn, succeeded Scott Rowe who was promoted on Tuesday. Hewitt, who had served as VP corporate communications since the CW’s launch in 2006, has been promoted to Svp network communications, reporting to entertainment president Dawn Ostroff. In addition to his PR duties, Hewitt has been doing executive speechwriting and is known for writing speeches for CBS Corp. CEO Leslie Moonves. Paul Hewitt has been promoted to senior vp of communications at The CW. Hewitt is succeeding Paul McGuire, who took a senior position running communications for Warner Bros. Entertainment earlier this week.
Hewitt will oversee and develop communications strategies and media relations for the network, and oversee program publicity campaigns.
"Paul is a skilled strategist with exceptional media contacts and an implicit understanding of The CW's young demographic and how to reach it across all platforms," said Dawn Ostroff, the network's entertainment president. "He is an outstanding public relations executive, a peerless writer and is well-respected inside and outside the company."
