Is Seth Gordon the Director of Star Wars: Episode VII?

29 November 2012 12:05 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

It sometimes pays to be in the right place at the right time. We've overheard, and can confirm, that Seth Gordon is currently attached to a romantic space adventure for Walt Disney Pictures. What we can't get confirmed is that it is, in fact, Star Wars: Episode VII. But we're hearing that it might be. Maybe. Maybe not.

Since it was announced, Star Wars: Episode VII has become the biggest sequel in the galaxy, and the announcement of a director is imminent. The treatment from Michael Arndt has gone out to some of the biggest names in Hollywood, with Brad Bird, Steven Spielberg, J.J. Abrams, Jon Favreau, Zack Snyder, and Quentin Tarantino all passing on the project. Safety Not Guaranteed's Colin Trevorrow was an odds on favorite to take the job, but he's now busy with the Flight of the Navigator remake set up at Disney.

So whom does that leave? »

Blu-ray Review - Flight of the Navigator (1986)

19 November 2012 3:00 AM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Flight of the Navigator, 1986.

Directed by Randal Kleiser.

Starring Joey Cramer, Paul Reubens, Veronica Cartwright, Cliff DeYoung, Sarah Jessica Parker and Howard Hesseman.

Synopsis:

When a young boy is sent to fetch his younger brother he slips and is knocked unconscious.  Awakening he returns home, only to find his parents have moved and aged by eight years.

What I love about this film is how it's about time travel.  It's great.  Obviously it doesn't get too complicated with it, it is a kids film after all, but it deals with the topic as its premise, and you've got to love that.  The events of the film transpire because the alien AI in the craft that abducted David felt time travel to the past was too risky for human beings, and so unfortunately for David he can only be returned to the present - rather than back to the exact time »

Erotic film star Sylvia Kristel dies at 60

18 October 2012 7:56 AM, PDT | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

Dutch actress Sylvia Kristel, best known for the 1974 erotic French film "Emmanuelle," has passed away at the age of 60, her agent tells the Afp. The actress had been suffering from throat and lung cancer and had sustained a stroke back in July.

"Emmanuelle" starred Kristel and chronicled the life of a housewife in an open marriage. It spawned several sequels, which also starred Kristel in the title role. The original was one of the first erotic movies to be shown in mainstream cinemas; Kristel attributed its success to the changing censorship laws of the era.

Following the success of the first three "Emmanuelle" movies, Kristel spent several years in Hollywood, appearing in "The Concorde: Airport '79" alongside Robert Wagner and "Private Lessons" opposite Howard Hesseman.

Kristel's romantic life was also dotted with famous faces. She was romantically linked with actor Ian McShane ("Deadwood"), wed American millionaire Alan Turner and was »

Danny Bonaduce and Barry Williams Battle SyFy’s Bigfoot This August

22 July 2012 7:44 PM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

Did you miss Danny Bonaduce and Barry Williams when they squared off against Sasquatch in the SyFy channel original movie “Bigfoot”? If so, you probably shouldn’t spend too much time crying in the corner about it. Fortunately for those of us who missed this television event, director Bruce Davison’s creature feature is coming to DVD this August. Yes, it’s that Bruce Davison. Weird, right? And if Bonaduce and Williams aren’t enough to draw you in, it’s also worth noting that Alice Cooper, Sherilyn Fenn, and Howard Hesseman make appearances, as well. I can’t believe I’m using Howard Hesseman’s name as a selling point for a Bigfoot movie. Check out this enlightening synopsis: 1970′s pop culture icons Danny Bonaduce and Barry Williams face off in the hunt for the legendary mountain creature. No joke: That’s the summary currently available on IMDb. Shameful. »

The Asylum's Bigfoot Crosses Borders! A Movie Review

Director: Bruce Davison. Writers: Brian Brinkman, Micho Rutare. Cast: Barry Williams, Danny Bonaduce, Sherilyn Fenn, Bruce Davison, Andre Royo, and Howard Hesseman. One of The Asylum's latest sacrificial offerings to the SyFy Network is Bigfoot. In Canada, this movie made its premiere on Space! The Imagination Station last week and viewers on both sides of the border can ask what the hell was that thing that they have found. Some may be more inclined to go hunting for the real thing. This company is well known for poking fun at larger film properties that include mutant animals, weather anomalies and haunted mansions. Their staying power comes from the fact that if the premise is not registered or trademarked, it's fair game for it to be ridiculed. Creative license can only go so far, and with Bigfoot, nobody owns the copyright to cryptozoology's most famous beast. Anyone can quest for the »

Barry Williams accepts Danny Bonaduce 'Bigfoot' rematch 'on one condition: I can kick his butt'

29 June 2012 12:00 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Danny Bonaduce and Barry Williams have a unique TV history, and this weekend, it gets a new chapter.

The two actors were among ABC's most popular stars of family-friendly sitcoms in the late '60s and early '70s, Bonaduce as precocious Danny on "The Partridge Family" and Williams as earnest Greg on "The Brady Bunch." Their paths crossed memorably in the 2002 premiere of Fox's short-lived (as in, two episodes) "Celebrity Boxing," with Bonaduce pretty much ruling their bout.

On Saturday (June 30), they're back together in "Bigfoot," a new Syfy movie that makes them opponents again, this time in pursuit of the title creature. Other notables are involved -- Howard Hesseman ("Wkrp in Cincinnati") and rock icon Alice Cooper are among co-stars, and actor Bruce Davison ("X-Men") is the director -- but there's no question the Bonaduce vs. Williams rematch is the main event.

Danny Bonaduce and Barry Williams Fight Over a Giant Bigfoot. No, Really.

Danny Bonaduce (of “The Partridge Family” fame), Barry Williams (of “The Brady Bunch” fame), Howard Hesseman (of “Head of the Class” fame), Sherilyn Fenn (of “Twin Peaks” fame), and rocker Alice Cooper. All in the same movie? About Bigfoot? And Bigfoot himself is a giant, King Kong-sized monster that smacks porta-pottys into the air that then land on fleeing civilian victims? Oh hell yes. Courtesy of the Asylum, comes “Bigfoot”, a SyFy Channel Original Movie that will, surely, convince you that Bigfoot is real. Or if it doesn’t, then will have offered up two hours (plus commercials) of a pretty damn terrible creature feature directed by Bruce Davison (of “X-Men” fame). Either way, “Bigfoot” stomps its way to the Syfy Channel this June 30th. Be there or get squashed. And oh, according to IMDb.com, rocker Billy Idol and Al from “The Wire” is also in this thing. »

5 TV Shows That Aren’t On DVD – And Should Be

30 May 2012 11:00 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

With fall shows wrapped, Mad Men and Game of Thrones winding down, and the Louie and True Blood season premieres still weeks away, it’s the perfect time to curl up in front of your television set or computer (which actually seems really uncomfortable) and indulge in a little vintage TV series binge. While most of your old favorites are probably available to you on DVD, Netflix, or Hulu, several noteworthy classics inexplicably and unjustly aren’t. In some cases, no one even had the foresight to record every single episode back when they originally aired and then do their duty to mankind by illegally uploading the series onto YouTube or selling bootleg copies through shady-looking websites and, honestly, that’s just infuriating. If Emily’s Reasons Why Not – a 2006 Heather Graham snoozer that only aired one episode – is on DVD, then surely the following superior series should be released. Head of the Class »

"Mad Men" Fabulous Quotient: Is Joan Don's New Partner in Crime?

It's Christmas in the hellish, whiskey-drowned snoglobe of Mad Men, and you know what that means: A not-particularly-festive malaise! Awwww. Don, thank you, but I'm still using the one you got me last year.

The post-Thanksgiving season is sinister: Lane Pryce, who is Rango, decided to embezzle a little Scdp money. That rascal-y, owl-y dude! Joan was served divorced papers by her Very Manly, Thank You husband Greg, who is doing a great job over at the Vietnam Macho War Camp War he loves so much. This June Syfy is giving us a new creature feature every weekend. Are they saving the best for last when two 1970’s family show icons, a pair of classic rockers, and a “Twin Peaks” beauty join forces to stop Bigfoot?

Breaking News: Syfy Announces Summer Schedule, Including Series Finale of Eureka

15 May 2012 12:30 PM, PDT | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

The seemingly endless wait for the Syfy summer schedule is finally over! There is good news and bad, and one thing that is both good and bad. Let’s start with that: the Eureka Season Finale. We love Eureka, so every episode is good news; the fact that it’s a series finale, not so much. Mark your calendars – and have plenty of Kleenex in stock – for July 16 at 9/8c. Right after Comic-Con, which is early this year. We’ll see if that means a panel or not.

The good news: Warehouse 13 and Alphas return on July 23. The hmmm news is that Lost Girl will move to Fridays at 10 on July 20. Hey That’S Haven’S Spot. So Where The Heck Is Haven? Admittedly we had a head’s up that Haven would be pushed to fall when we learned that the DVDs for Season 2 weren’t being released until September but Argh. »
