He had to wear padding, a massive amount of make-up, and huge lifts in size 24 shoes to make him appear over 7 feet tall as Frankenstein's monster in "Van Helsing."

He has now played Frankenstein's monster three times. In _Van Helsing (2004)_ on the concept album and workshop of "Frankenstein" The Musical by Mark Baron and Jeffrey Jackson, and finally in the Broadway production of "Young Frankenstein".
Shuler Hensley has an award named after him. The Georgia High School Musical Theater Awards, modeled after Broadway's Tony Awards, have been handing out Shuler Awards since 2009 to recognize talented musical theater students in Georgia high schools. Shuler also graciously lends his time and talents to co-host and perform on the award show every April.
Currently playing Kerchak in Disney's newest musical Tarzan which is playing at the Richard Rogers Theater in New York City. Tarzan opened in May 2006 [March 2007]
