Octane Entertainment Acquires Worldwide Sales Rights to Darren Lynn Bousman’s St. Agatha

We're one step closer to seeing the latest movie from Darren Lynn Bousman, the filmmaker behind three of the most twisted entries in the Saw franchise (as well as the horror-themed musicals Repo! The Genetic Opera and The Devil's Carnival), as it was recently announced that Octane Entertainment has acquired worldwide sales rights to Bousman's St. Agatha, a horror film set at a convent in the 1950s:

In today’s film news roundup, Julianne Moore will star as Gloria Steinem in “My Life On The Road,” Avi Lerner’s Millenium gets a new president and Octane buys sales rights to Darren Lynn Bousman’s “St. Agatha.”

Julianne Moore will star as Gloria Steinem in “My Life On The Road,” with Julie Taymor directing for June Pictures.

Sarah Ruhl is adapting Steinem’s memoir for the screen. June PicturesAndrew Duncan and Alex Saks are producing with Taymor and Lynn Hendee. Steinem and Amy Richards will be executive producers.

Steinem became a leading spokeswoman for the feminist movement in the 1960s and 1970s. Moore won an Academy Award for the 2014 drama “Still Alice.”

Moore is repped by CAA and Management 36o. The news was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.

Someone is coming back from the dead on General Hospital. TVLine reports Michael Sutton is reprising the role of Stone Cates on the ABC TV show.Sutton began playing Cates on the long-running soap in 1993. Fans and celebrities alike were devastated to learn of Nelsan Ellis' untimely death. The True Blood star died at the age of 39 after complications with heart failure, Et confirmed.

Octavia Spencer, who starred in 2011's The Help alongside Ellis, is one of many who posted her condolences to social media.

"Just got word that we lost @nelsanellisofficial," Spencer, 47, wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of the actor and several hashtags including "#RIPNelsanEllis" and "brilliantactor." "My heart breaks for his kids and family."

"It will forever be a point of sadness for me that I never had the chance to work with Nelsan during my time on True Blood," Carolyn Hennesy said in a statement to Et. "He was one of the finest talents I have personally seen on that or any show."

Actress Gabrielle Union shared that she was "blown away" by the tragic news.

Hennesy is no stranger to playing wealthy women with questionable intentions, and with experience from Revenge, True Blood, General Hospital, and Once Upon a Time, sipping tea with Emily Gilmore came quite naturally to her.

Vision Films Allies With Sony Pictures Home Entertainment

Family movie specialist Vision Films has signed a distribution deal with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment for its new releases in the United States and Canada, Variety has learned exclusively.

Lise Romanoff, managing director/CEO of Vision Films, said, “Our distribution agreement will be instrumental in the growth of our home entertainment division, further ensuring our role as one of the premier providers of independent films in the marketplace.”

The first title covered by the alliance is political satire “The Congressman,” which will be released first by RedBox on Aug. 9 and then by Sphe. The film is directed by Jared Martin and former congressman Robert Mrazek, and stars Treat Williams, George Hamilton, Elizabeth Marvel and Ryan Merriman in a story of sabotage, media manipulation and patriotism.

Mrazek served five terms as a Democratic congressman from New York between 1983 and 1993.
