Loye Hawkins
- Actor
Loye Hawkins only acted in two pictures during his short-lived career.
Loye made his film debut in his sole lead role as rough'n'tumble
streetwise private investigator Al Connors in the delightfully dreadful
low-budget blaxploitation obscurity "The Guy from Harlem." His other
movie appearance was a small part as a migrant farm worker in the
made-for-TV drama "Angel City." Loye is now the lead vocalist of the
Loye Hawkins Band, an eclectic quartet who perform jazz, blues, R&B,
Latin and Caribbean music. Hawkins is especially fond of the blues and
pretty ballads. He cites such artists as Bill Withers, Ella Fitzgerald,
Arthur Prysock, Billy Eckstein, Nina Simone, and Nancy Wilson as his
early musical heroes.
