American novelist Eric Stow Hatch was born in New York City in 1901. His father was an investment banker on Wall Street, and at age 17 Hatch dropped out of school and went to work for his father's firm, staying for ten years. Former staff writer for The New Yorker. Author of short stories and 25 novels. In the 1950's, he bought the radio station WBIS in Bristol, Connecticut. Hatch avidly pursued his interest in American history and was elected in 1967 chairman of the American revolution Bicentennial Commission.
