Blink and you may have missed it, but Kevin Hart is now pretty much the biggest comedian in the world. Though he’s not yet a household name in some Middle American holdouts, at some point in the last few years the diminutive loudmouth has gone from working the stand-up circuit and impressing in side roles in Judd Apatow films to filling arenas full of people late-80s Andrew Dice Clay style with his stand-up routine and starring in films like Think Like a Man, which just made more than seven times its budget back at the box office. Right now, the world is his oyster and all he has to do is reach down and pluck out the pearls. So what’s a guy in such an enviable position got planned for his next move? If Deadline Jenkintown is to be believed, it’s obviously got to be co-starring in a Kevin James comedy. The »

After working the grind of the comedy club circuit while picking up the occasional supporting film role, it seems actor/comedian Kevin Hart has finally reached, and even surpassed, the mainstream success that has recently graced Louis C.K. and Marc Maron among others. His comedy special “Laugh At My Pain” grossed more than $7 million on just 284 screens, while his starring role in the Tim Story-directed “Think Like a Man” helped that film reach $86 million on a $12 budget. Of course, now that Hart has proven himself a viable talent, studios are clamoring to place him front and center in their latest projects, and the first one finds him co-starring with another comedy star who previously struck box-office gold.
Deadline reports Hart is set to join Kevin James, “The King of Queens” star turned Hollywood go-to guy with “Paul Blart: Mall Cop” and “The Zookeeper,” in his latest occupation-based wonder, “Valet Guys. »

Kevin Hart.s star is shining bright at the moment. He received rave review for his comedic turn in Think Like a Man, a bona-fide hit from Hollywood.s spring season. He also scored notes by stealing scenes from Jason Segel and Emily Blunt in The Five-Year Engagement, and is a regular on the hit ABC sitcom Modern Family. And that.s not even a mention of his ability to sell out arenas on a regular basis as a stand-up comic. But Hart might elevate to an even higher level if this next bit of news comes to fruition. Hart is in talks to co-star alongside Kevin James for a Sony Pictures comedy Valet Guys, which would begin filming at the end of 2012 in Miami, according to Deadline. The buddy comedy sounds relatively generic: Two valet guys at a posh Miami resort lose a valuable automobile, and have 48 hours to »

Update: Kevin Hart (Think Like a Man) is joining Kevin James in Sony's Valet Guys. The film is about two guys who park cars at a fancy hotel in Miami and lose an expensive sports car. While trying to find it, they witness a murder and go on the run.
When this project was announced, Adam Sandler was in the role now taken by Hart. The Deadline exclusive doesn't mention Sandler or Happy Madison, so it appears he's dropped out completely. James and Sandler are definitely working together, however, on Grown-Ups 2.
Dec. 8, 2010 -- Adam Sandler and Kevin James will reteam (Grown-Ups, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry) for Valet Guys for Sony Pictures in Valet Guys. James and frequent collaborator Nick Bakay (Paul Blart: Mall Cop, The Zookeeper, "The King of Queens") will write the script about two long-term valets at a South Beach hotel who go on the run after witnessing a murder. »

• Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale) is in talks to torment the citizens of Asgard in Thor 2, as an unspecified villain who joins Tom Hiddleston’s Loki. Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) will direct the film. [THR]
• Speaking of Thor 2, that sequel may stand in the way of Anthony Hopkins joining another sequel, Red 2. Hopkins would play a baddie in the latter film — which will star Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, and Catherine Zeta-Jones — but his involvement hinges on his ability to schedule around playing Odin in Thor 2. [Deadline]
• Elsewhere in the Marvel-verse, two actors have signed onto Iron Man 3, which just started filming this week. One is quite familiar: Jon Favreau will return to play Tony Stark bodyguard Happy Hogan, notable since Favreau passed the directing reins for the franchise to Shane Black (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang). »

A lot of casting news has hit today. First up, we start with the revelation that Zoe Saldana has come aboard Machete Kills for director Robert Rodriguez. No information has been revealed about her character, but it is known that she will be making out with star Danny Trejo at some point in the film. Consider her one of Machete's girls.
Mads Mikkelsen is joining the Marvel sequel Thor 2 as a villain. His role is still unspecified. And Ashley Hamilton could be taking a small villain role in Iron Man 3 as Firepower, one of the comic's lesser known characters.
In other sequel news, Anthony Hopkins is thinking about becoming one of the retired CIA operatives forced back into active duty alongside returning Red 2 cast members Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, and John Malkovich. Oher new cast additions include Catherine Zeta-Jones (she dips beneath the lasers!) and Byung-hun Lee. »

How often does this happen: Saturday Night Live member Taran Killam, perhaps best-known for his on-air impersonations of Brad Pitt, has been cast in a movie that’s both produced by and features… Brad Pitt. Deadline pegs him as the next player aboard Twelve Years a Slave, the Steve McQueen-directed Solomon Northup film which, up to now, has compiled an impressive cast comprised of Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Pitt, Paul Dano, Adepero Oduye (Pariah), Ruth Negga, and Scott McNairy.
This move goes hand-in-hand with our last update on the film, in which it was reported that McNairy has been signed as one of Northup’s kidnappers, who sell him to a southern slave plantation; as it were, Killam has been locked to play the “traveling showman” responsible for the actual, physical act. It’s a much darker role than any work on his current repertoire, but that should only »

This week I highlight (relatively) new tv station Bounce, Donald Glover and Yvette Nicole Brown in Community and more. Community is still one of the most original shows on TV, the best of those being ‘The Civil War’ documentary remake, episode 14’s ‘Pillows & Blankets’ which spotlights best friends turned into enemies Troy (S&A favorite Donald Glover) and Abed (Danny Pudi) in their epic battle of Pillowtown vs. Blanketsburg at their school (hence the show name) Greendale Community College. Also starring on Community is Yvette Nicole Brown who has appeared on numerous television shows and movies, most notably Kevin Hart’s failed 2004 sitcom The Big House, which centered on a wealthy, pampered guy from Malibu (Hart) who moves to Philadelphia to live with his blue-collar relatives after he is arrested for embezzling millions of his clients' dollars, as the older sister of Toni (Jill Marie Jones) on Girlfriends and...

It's been over five years now since the last installment in the Scary Movie franchise hit theatres, and although Scary Movie 4 was not quite as successful as parts 1 or 3, it made a lot more money that I ever would have expected -- $178 million worldwide, to be exact. Clearly people still find these movies amusing, and with horror continuing to thrive in Hollywood, it only makes sense that another installment would eventually be greenlit. A couple of weeks ago we learned that Dimension Films was in the process of setting up Scary Movie 5, and although veteran spoof master David Zucker will return to produce and co-write, he will not return to direct. Perhaps more distressing, however, is the fact that the franchise's biggest star, Anna Faris, will not be returning either. In a recent interview with Coming Soon, Anna Faris was asked about her potential involvement in Scary Movie 5. »
