Though they eventually became redundant within the context of the series’ storyline, the moments that best defined the early seasons of The Sopranos were those between Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) and his psychiatrist, Dr. Jennifer Melfi (Lorraine Bracco). Despite Tony’s obstinate attitude, their therapy sessions helped viewers get under the skin of the troubled Mafia boss in a way that felt simultaneously organic and piercing.

Now, it looks like another crime series about a quiet monster may try the same tactic – although Hannibal Lecter’s crimes and passions are decidedly different than Tony Soprano’s. The upcoming television adaptation of Thomas Harris’s Hannibal has cast actress Gillian Anderson as the not-so-good doctor’s own therapist. Let the games begin.

EW has reported that Gillian Anderson has been cast for a three-episode arc of the upcoming crime procedural/thriller Hannibal. Anderson ...

We here at ScottFeinberg.com recently discussed the phenomena of TV shows becoming movies as well as TV series spinning off into other series, but we have yet to approach TV shows that spawned from movies — until now.

MTV’s new series Catfish: The TV Show, based on the 2010 documentary Catfish, follows people who form romantic relationships solely through online communication as they meet their significant others for the first time.

The most recent ratings for Catfish: The TV Show prove it’s clicking with audiences beyond the big screen: Among Monday night cable programs, the series came in third place, following Espn’s Monday Night Football and SportsCenter. Specifically, 2.743 million viewers tuned in to last week’s episode, resulting in a 1.7 rating in the coveted adults 18-49 demographic.

Hannibal Announces Killer Casting Choices

20 November 2012 1:54 PM, PST | Boomtron | See recent Boomtron news »

She was a gorgeous guest star on White Collar and he is a veteran of Broadway. Now Anna Chlumsky and Raul Esparza have joined the killer new series, Hannibal.

NBC is the network daring enough to deliver Hannibal Lecter to the small screen. Their upcoming series is called Hannibal and it revolves around the infamous serial killer.

Did you know that the literary character, Hannibal Lecter, M.D., though created by author Thomas Harris, first hit the big screen thanks to actor Benjamin Hendrickson in the 1986 Michael Mann film, Manhunter? And here I always thought Anthony Hopkins’ portrayal of the sometime cannibal in 1991′s The Silence of the Lambs was the first on-screen adaptation in the series.

Well, now one of my favorite foreign actors will carry the torch for NBC. Danish star Mads Mikkelsen will portray Dr.Lecter. He first hit my radar as Le Chiffre, opposite Daniel Craig in Casino Royal, »

New Images of Mads Mikkelsen as Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal

27 October 2012 2:52 PM, PDT | Filmofilia | See recent Filmofilia news »

Here are some great new images of Mads Mikkelsen as a young Dr. Hannibal Lecter in the upcoming NBC’s Hannibal. Amazing stuff, indeed!

As you already know, this pilot comes from director David Slade, and from what we heard about the project so far, it will help us to finally understand who Dr. Lector really was.

Hannibal is developed for television by Bryan Fuller, and the series is based on the series of novels by Thomas Harris.

The whole thing will center on the relationship between FBI criminal profiler Will Graham and Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a forensic psychiatrist who soon became Graham’s most cunning enemy.

What’s definitely great about this pilot is that some seriously good cast is on board. Beside Mikkelsen, it also stars Hugh Dancy as Graham, Lawrence Fishburne as their boss, and Scott Thompson as part of the FBI unit.
