Roseanne revival confirmed for midseason premiere, cast photo released

A couple of weeks ago it was announced that the beloved sitcom Roseanne is set to return for an eight-episode revival, and now during ABC’s upfront presentation in New York City, the network has confirmed that the new series will receive a midseason premiere.

Along with the news, ABC also unveiled the above cast photo featuring Roseanne Barr (Roseanne Conner), John Goodman (Dan Conner), Michael Fishman (DJ Conner), Lecy Goranson (Becky Conner) and Laurie Metcalf (Jackie Harris). Also confirmed as returning are Sara Gilbert (Darlene) and Sarah Chalke, who played Becky in later seasons, but will be appearing as a new character in the revival.

ABC also unveiled a teaser to whet our appetites for the show’s return, although it doesn’t feature any new footage and is instead a sizzle reel from the original run; check it out here…

Laurie Metcalf Pushes for 'Roseanne' Revival at Tony Awards Nominees Reception

The day after the Tony Awards nominations were announced, nearly all of the newly minted nominees gathered for a press reception at New York City's Sofitel. The Hollywood Reporter recounts the top eight things heard amidst interviews and photo shoots.

1. How about a Roseanne revival? Laurie Metcalf told reporters that she is on board for that eight-episode Roseanne revival. “I’m hoping that it happens,” says Metcalf, who played Jackie Harris in the '90s sitcom and is Tony-nominated for her performance in A Doll’s House Part 2. “Everything is in place except the fact that it hasn’t been sold."

Laurie Metcalf is on board for the Roseanne revival!

Et caught up with the 61-year-old actress, who portrayed Jackie Harris on the original '90s sitcom, at the 2017 Tony Awards Meet the Nominees Press Junket in New York City on Wednesday, where she gave us the scoop on the eight-episode reboot.

"Everybody's on board," she exclaimed. "I think contracts have been hammered out and all that -- just gotta sell it!"

According to Deadline, Roseanne Barr (Roseanne Conner), John Goodman (Dan Conner) and Sara Gilbert (Darlene Conner) are all reprising their roles, and ABC and Netflix are reportedly both bidding on the project.

"I don't think it's been sold, but if anybody buys it, we'll all be there," Metcalf added. "I can't imagine where the writers would take it -- it could be open to anything. I can only »
