Tribeca finds Velvet Morning
Tribeca Film has acquired all Us rights to Neil Labute’s relationship drama Some Velvet Morning starring Stanley Tucci and Alice Eve.

Labute wrote and directed the film about a man whose efforts to rekindle an affair with his estranged lover dredge up their dark history.

Tim Harms, Daryl Freimark, Michael Corrente, Trent Othick, and David Zander produced Some Velvet Morning, which premiered at Tribeca last April.

The distributor plans to release on VOD and digital platforms on December 10 followed by theatrical on December 13.

Tribeca Film’s director of acquisitions Nick Savva negotiated the deal with Josh Braun and David Koh of Submarine Entertainment. International Film Trust handles international sales.

Once again, Tribeca Film’s Nick Savva doesn’t need to look too far to find some theatrical slate filler. Among the pile of unbought leftovers from the ’13 edition of Tribeca Film Festival, the U.S. rights to Neil Labute’s latest drama have been picked up by the indie distrib label. Some Velvet Morning will receive a digital then theatrical (16th) release in December.

Gist: Starring Stanley Tucci and (or versus) Alice Eve, Fred arrives at Velvet’s doorstep, suitcases in tow. He tells her that he has finally left his wife to be with her, news to Velvet since she has not seen him in years and is now friends with Fred’s recently married son. As Fred’s hopes crash to earth during a conversation brimming with passion, remorse, humor and anger, the twisted heart of a fascinating relationship is revealed.

Tribeca Film Takes U.S. Rights to Neil Labute’s ‘Some Velvet Morning’
Tribeca Film, the distributor loosely affiliated with the Tribeca Film Festival, has snagged U.S. rights to Neil Labute’s “Some Velvet Morning” for a theatrical and digital release later this year.

Pic, written and directed by Labute and toplined by Stanley Tucci and Alice Eve, debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival in the spring. Storyline centers on a man who unexpectedly visits his mistress four years after they parted, announcing he’s left his wife at last.

Tribeca Film plans an on-demand launch for the film Dec. 10 on cable, satellite and digital platforms (including iTunes and Amazon), with a theatrical release skedded for Dec. 13.

Tim Harms, Daryl Freimark, Michael Corrente, Trent Othick and David Zander produce the film. Distribution deal was pacted by Tribeca Films’ Nick Savva with Submarine Entertainment’s Josh Braun and David Koh. International Film Trust is on board to handle global rights to the pic.

Pic premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and Tribeca plans a theatrical and on-demand release platform in December. Pic is about a man who shows up on the doorstep of his mistress after a four-year absence. He says he has finally left his wife, but she isn’t interested and he becomes obsessed with her and things get ugly. It’ll come out on multiple platforms December 10 and reach some theaters three days later. Submarine repped the film.

Hawke, Farmiga Join Labute's "Hope"

Ethan Hawke, Vera Farmiga and Emmanuellle Devos have joined Ed Harris in Neil Labute’s long-gestating 1970’s-set crime-thriller "The Geography of Hope" for Sundial Pictures and Boomdozer Inc.

The story follows two small time crooks (Hawke and Harris) who are keeping a low profile in a Baja resort after a heist goes wrong.

When they meet two women holidaying together (Farmiga and Devos), sparks fly romantically but tension builds when a large amount of cash is found in their room.

The discovery sets in motion a series of events that pits man against woman and friend against friend, leading to a bloody conclusion.

Stefan Nowicki, Joey Carey, Trace Sheehan and Tim Harms will produce. Shooting kicks off in Puerto Rico in January

Snow a 'Vicious' lead

Snow a 'Vicious' lead
Brittany Snow will star in the indie feature Vicious Kind.

Snow will play a woman targeted by the obsessed older brother of her boyfriend after he brings her home for Thanksgiving.

Adam Scott will play Caleb, the obsessive older brother. The role of Emma's boyfriend has not been cast.

The film, to begin filming in Connecticut on March 1, is written and being directed by Lee Toland Krieger. Tim Harms and Neil LaBute are producing.

Snow (Hairspray) is set to appear in the indie feature Finding Amanda and the crime drama Black Water Transit. She is repped by ICM and attorney P.J. Shapiro.

Scott, who will next be seen in Columbia's Step Brothers as well as the indie drama Lovely Still, is repped by the Gersh Agency, Untitled Entertainment and attorney P.J. Shapiro.
