Jeff B. Harmon is a writer, director and producer whose films have
created considerable controversy and earned him three execution orders
on his life. His documentaries for British and American television such
as The Front Line (1983), Jihad^×Afghanistan's Holy War (1986) and
Afgan (1989) have won numerous awards including Britain's prestigious
Royal Television Society Award, the Ace Award and the Grand Award at
the Houston International Film Festival. Harmon is also a former war
correspondent and photographer who spent twenty years capturing the
dark side of history. A visitor to the abyss, he covered Emperor
Bokassa's coronation, the fall of Idi Amin, the Nazi underground in
Paraguay, the war in El Salvador, the war in Afghanistan from both the
Mujahideen and Soviet sides and Saddam Hussein's Iraq. Harmon took a
surreal leap from war documentaries to musical comedy with his first
feature film, Isle of Lesbos (1997). Like his documentaries, Isle of
Lesbos has polarized audiences around the world but this time without a
price on his head.
