Woody Harrelson and Kevin Costner Will Go Hunting for Bonnie and Clyde on Netflix

Stay in the loop on industry and casting news with our write-up on who’s been slated for recent film and television roles! “Highwaymen”Bonnie and Clyde are about to wreak havoc once again, this time in Netflix’s new project “Highwaymen.” While the thieving duo will be a large part of the film, they’ll take a backseat to the man who caught them. The story will be told from the vantage point of the police, particularly the officer who came out of retirement to end their crime spree. If the project sounds familiar, it’s because it took a while to find a studio, and streaming giant Netflix was the one to finally claim it. Liam Neeson was previously attached, but the film will now feature Woody Harrelson and Kevin Costner. No other actors have been cast, and Denise Chamian Casting is on board to fill out the roster,

For The Postseason: Joe E. Brown As Alibi Ike

If you’re a baseball fan, particularly if you’re a Dodgers, Astros, Cubs or Yankees fan, the real baseball season started this past Friday with the inauguration of the American and National League Championship Series. I’m a Dodgers fan, which means I’m among that group who, arguably, have gone the longest without the satisfaction/excitement/nail-biting terror of seeing their team in the World Series, the next step for whoever wins in the Nlcs. The Dodgers last appeared in the World Series in 1988, capping a memorable run with a championship by beating the Oakland A’s. That was 29 years ago. The Cubs are the reigning Mlb champions, having won last year’s World Series after a 107-year drought. And the Yankees, a mainstay of the World Series around the turn of this century, last appeared in an October championship series in 2009.

The only team to come close

Woody Harrelson and Kevin Costner to hunt Bonnie & Clyde in Netflix’s Highwayman

Deadline is reporting that Woody Harrelson and Kevin Costner are in talks to play legendary lawmen Frank Hamer and Manny Gault, the two former Texas Rangers tasked with hunting down notorious outlaws Bonnie & Clyde, in the drama Highwayman.

The site reports that Netflix is currently in talks to acquire the project from Universal Pictures, where it was set up four years ago. John Lee Hancock (Saving Mr. Banks, The Founder) will direct, and has rewritten an earlier script from John Fusco (Young Guns, Hidalgo).

Rather than focussing on the two outlaw lovers, famously portrayed by Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway in 1967’s Bonnie & Clyde, Highwayman will explore the story from the point of view of the posse assembled by Hamer to bring their violent crime spree to and end.

‘The Founder’ Blu-ray Review

Stars: Michael Keaton, Nick Offerman, John Carroll Lynch, Laura Dern, Linda Cardellini, B.J. Novak, Justin Randell Brooke, Kate Kneeland, Patrick Wilson | Written by Robert D. Siegel | Directed by John Lee Hancock

When you have a film looking at the origins of McDonald’s, you would think that the company would like it to be inspirational and positive. The tale of Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton), The Founder is one of selfishness and pure ruthlessness that makes you side with his victims.

The story of Ray Kroc is the tale of a salesman who recognised something special in the fast food restaurant run by the McDonald Brothers. Recognising the potential of franchising what have created he wouldn’t let anything stand in his way, including the brothers themselves.

Michael Keaton is one of those actors who can take a role and infuse charisma into it, even if the character is an unlikable.

Fences; Loving; The Founder; The Student and more – review

It’s the films about the African American experience that provide this week’s dramatic highlights

Two very different kinds of awards-approved acting, both penetrating in their own way, are on display in Fences (Paramount, 12) and Loving (Universal, 12), a pair of stern, stately but intimate portraits of the black experience in mid-20th-century America. In the former, Viola Davis and Denzel Washington hurl the furiously worded speeches of playwright August Wilson at each other with blazing, bruising intensity – the thespian equivalent of bare-knuckle fighting. The latter, though, gives Ruth Negga and Joel Edgerton about as many words in total as Davis and Washington burn through in a couple of minutes. As interracial spouses feeling the blunt force of the deep south’s disapproval, they communicate in the kind of expressive shorthand that develops when entire lives must be lived on the quiet; Negga, in particular, emotes with the exquisite pain

The troubled production of DreamWorks’ first film

Simon Brew Jun 14, 2017

DreamWorks launched in a blaze of publicity – but its first film, The Peacemaker, was beset by problems…

Not since United Artists had launched in the 1930s had Hollywood seen anything quite like it. Steven Spielberg, David Geffen and Jeffrey Katzenberg – a trio with a lot of money and a big contacts book between them – came together to launch the first new studio in a generation. It was called DreamWorks Skg, and it was not short on ambition.

Katzenberg would be heading up its animation arm, and soon got to work, with the likes of Antz and The Prince Of Egypt getting things going. But on the live action side, the assumption that Spielberg would exclusively make his films for the studio quickly proved false. Post-the formation of DreamWorks, his first movie as director would instead be The Lost World: Jurassic Park for Universal. Only then would he

Tom Holland & Daisy Ridley Zombie Flick From Director Doug Liman Shoots This Summer

Young adult novels may have waned in recent years — Hunger Games is finished, Maze Runner delayed, and the Divergent series has petered out — but that doesn’t necessarily make the prospects any less appealing to studios. Plus, given the right talent, any one of these books could be made into a kickass movies, and given the talent on board the upcoming Chaos Walking.

The film is based on the novel of the Chaos Walking book series from writer Patrick Ness, and if you’re unfamiliar, here is the official synopsis of the first book, The Knife Of Never Letting Go:

“Todd Hewitt is the only boy in a town of men. Ever since the settlers were infected with the Noise germ, Todd can hear everything the men think, and they hear everything he thinks. Todd is just a month away from becoming a man, but in the midst of the cacophony,

The Founder review – bland fast-food biopic

Michael Keaton stars as Ray Kroc, the man who turned McDonald’s into a global force, but this is flavourless stuff

If Morgan Spurlock’s gross-out documentary Super Size Me exposed the dangers of the McDonald’s Big Mac, The Founder is the fast-food franchise’s wholesome origin story. An attempt to recast its Henry Ford-style speedy system and memorable golden arches as hallmarks of all-American decency (and capitalist efficiency), John Lee Hancock’s bland biopic offers a sanitised and sympathetic take on the burger chain’s beginnings and the man who turned it into a multimillion-dollar enterprise.

Michael Keaton stars as Ray Croc, a persistent, Machiavellian salesman weaned on self-help tapes, who rebranded and franchised the San Bernardino burger bar started in 1940 by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald (Nick Offerman and John Carroll Lynch respectively). “Nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent,” says Keaton’s Croc to the McDonalds,
