12 Monkeys Season 3: Coming to Syfy!!!

29 June 2016 2:02 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

There isn't even time travel involved with this fantastic news.

12 Monkeys has been renewed for a third season, as first reported by EW.

Hailing from executive producers Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett, 12 Monkeys Season 2 is in the middle of one of the most creatively viable and incredibly emotional arcs its ever had.

With only two episodes remaining this season, it's wonderful of Syfy to give fans the freedom to really sit back and enjoy what lies ahead.

“Syfy and Ucp have been incredible creative partners, and I’m thrilled that we are going to tell the next — even more twisty and emotional — chapter of this time travel adventure,” Matalas told EW.

This season, a lot of the action has taken place in the future, a future in which protaganists and would-be love interests James Cole (Aaron Standford) and Cassandra Railly (Amanda Schull) have been distant and at odds.

12 Monkeys Season 2 Episode 11 Review: Resurrection

27 June 2016 7:11 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

The moment I'd been dreading arrived... Jennifer died. Luckily there was a silver lining.

In typical 12 Monkeys fashion, things did not play out as we expected. 12 Monkeys Season 2 Episode 11 proved to be another strong episode. The scene where old Jennifer meets her younger self is already one of the highlights of the entire series. Emily Hampshire Ftw!

This installment perfectly set up the final two hours of the season. What a ride, guys.

The episode recap reminded us that Jennifer's days were numbered, which instantly bummed me out. I mean, what's 12 Monkeys without its Jennifer Goines? Surely, Terry Matalas and his writing team would deliver a clever twist so that Jennifer might stick around, right? Plus, this installment was titled "Resurrection."

Still, it didn't help that old Jennifer was burning photos and talking death. "Today is the day. One that ends at the beginning, and begins at the end" she told Hannah. »

Other castmembers include Amanda Schull, Kirk Acevedo, Emily Hampshire, Barbara Sukowa, and Tom Noonan.
