Mini Biography

Cece Hall is the former Senior Vice-President of Post Production Sound at Paramount Pictures. She began working there in 1978 as a Supervising Sound Editor and from 1978 to 1992 she supervised numerous motion pictures for Paramount, including Witness, Star Trek I, II, & III, Beverly Hills Cop I & II, Top Gun , Terms of Endearment, Addams Family I & II, Searching For Bobby Fisher, Top Gun and The Hunt for Red October.

In 1987 Ms. Hall was the first woman nominated for an Academy Award for Best Sound FX Editing for Top Gun. In 1991, she was nominated again for both the American and the British Academy Awards, and won the Oscar for Best Sound FX Editing for The Hunt for Red October. She has also been nominated for numerous Motion Picture Sound Editor 'Golden Reel Awards', and won for Something So Right and Top Gun.

As a Senior Executive at Paramount, Ms. Hall also oversaw Post Production Sound for: The Hours, Alfie and Stardust in London, Failure to Launch, Hot Rod and Stop-Loss in New York, The Italian Job, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, Four Brothers, Team America, Case # 39, and the recent retelling of the EB White classic Charolotte's Web in Los Angeles, to name a few. In addition, Ms. Hall also assisted in the completion of both live-action and animated films from a variety of Viacom subsidiaries, such as Nickelodeon's Sponge Bob, Nacho Libre, Barnyard, MTV Films' Tupac: Resurrection, Hustle & Flow, Get Rich or Die Tryin', Jack Ass 2, and Paramount Vantage's Babel, Black Snake Moan.

For many years, Ms. Hall served on the Executive Sound Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She also served on the Board of Governors of the Motion Picture Sound Editors, and in 1984, she was the first woman elected President of that organization. Ms. Hall is a professor at the UCLA Graduate School of Theatre, Film and Television, where she has been teaching Sound Design / Post Production since 1995.

Ms. Hall has been the subject of numerous interviews and articles on Sound Design and women working in Hollywood, and is profiled in several publications: Sound Design for Film, Working in Hollywood, The Women Who Run Hollywood and, most recently, The Editors Guild Magazine.

Ms. Hall is consulting on several projects.
