Tiff Lightbox Launches ‘Shortcuts’ a Short Film Program

The Tiff Lightbox in Toronto is launching a new short film initiative. It’s first event will be at 6:30pm on October 9th. Each month, they will feature a new themed programme of the best Canadian and international short films. The first programme is Big Stars, Short Form, and features stars of stage and screen exploring the possibilities of short form cinema. 'Angry Birds' Movie Voice Cast Includes Comedy's Finest

The long-in-the-works "Angry Birds" movie is getting ready to take flight, and it's got an all-star comedy cast to breathe life into its animalistic projectiles.

Sony Pictures and Rovio announced this week that Peter Dinklage, Maya Rudolph, Bill Hader, Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, and Danny McBride will lead the feature adaptation of the popular smartphone game. And the impressive ensemble doesn't stop there: Keegan-Michael Key, Kate McKinnon, Tony Hale, Ike Barinholtz, Hannibal Buress, Cristela Alonzo, Jillian Bell, Danielle Brooks, Latin musician Romeo Santos, and YouTube stars Smosh (aka Ian Andrew Hecox and Anthony Padilla) will also voice characters in the movie.

Unsurprisingly, filmmakers were excited about the star-studded group that they nabbed for the flick.

Sony Pictures just unveiled the first image from its upcoming animated "Angry Birds" movie, based on the popular phone game. The studio also revealed the cast of the new film. "Angry Birds" Cast, First Photo Reveal

Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph, and Peter Dinklage have all nabbed roles in the upcoming "Angry Birds" movie at Sony Pictures. The studio has also released the first official photo which you can see below.

The news was announced in a press release which also reveals which characters they play: Sudeikis is the leader Red, Gad is Chuck (yellow), McBride is Bomb (black), Rudolph is Matilda (white), Hader is an unnamed pig, and Dinklage is the legendary Mighty Eagle.

Kate McKinnon, Keegan-Michael Key, Tony Hale, Ike Barinholtz, Hannibal Buress, Cristela Alonzo, Jillian Bell, Danielle Brooks, Romeo Santos, Ian Andrew Hecox and Andrew Padilla also lend their voices to the film adaptation of the popular game which Fergal Reilly and Clay Kaytis are directing. After a massive fan effort, slinging one billion birds in game, to unlock content from the upcoming Angry Birds movie, Rovio, creators of the uber-popular mobile game, and Sony Pictures have unveiled the first image from the 3D animated movie (showing some major difference from the game. Mainly, they have arms and legs now), and a look at the voice cast, which is interesting to say the list. Sony Animation has put together a pretty awesome voice cast for the Angry Birds movie they're developing. Jason Sudeikis will lead the cast as Red in the film, and it will co-star Josh Gad as speedy Chuck, Danny McBride as the volatile Bomb, Bill Hader as a pig, Maya Rudolph as Matilda, and Peter Dinklage as the Mighty Eagle. We haven’t heard much about the Angry Birds movie in a while, but over the past 48 hours, fans of the Angry Birds game have been busy unlocking the voice cast of the film by slinging one billion birds.  Apparently one billion birds have been slung because Rovio just revealed the full line-up. Angry Birds will feature the voices of Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph and Peter Dinklage.  Hit the jump for more on who they’re playing.  Angry Birds is set to hit theaters on July 1, 2016 and will mark Fergal Reilly and Clay Kaytis’ directorial debut. The Angry Birds are coming, and they’re going to be funny.

The full line-up for the voices behind the popular game-turned-movie have been released and includes a who’s who of comedians from the big and small screens.

Jason Sudeikis is ion deck as the leader of the pack and chief Angry Bird, Red.  You know, the one with the really bad temper.  After voicing the lovable and laughable snowman Olaf in Disney’s FrozenJosh Gad joins theAngry Bird cast as yellow bird Chuck, with Danny McBride voicing the volatile black bird Bomb.

Of course, where would the Angry Birds be without their porcine opponents?  Bill Hader joins the pig side of things while Maya Rudolph will lend her voice to white bird, Matilda.  Peter Dinklage will voice the legendary Mighty Eagle.

Though it feels like the hype and love for the mobile game turned merchandising machine Angry Birds has died down, the animated feature film is still coming to theaters on July 1st, 2016 with Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly directing the film for Rovio Entertainment.
