24 December 2013 9:54 AM, PST | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Last year Wamg brought you our list of the 15 Best Non-Traditional Christmas Movies to watch after the Holiday ham, pretty presents, and multiple viewings of White Christmas, Home Alone and Miracle On 34th Street were a thing of Christmas Past.

Minus the warm and fuzzy, our choices are filled snarky mistletoe carnage and crafty comedy – Geek style.

We made a list and checked it twice with our new lineup of the Top 20 Non-Traditional Christmas Movies. You better believe that Santa Claus is coming to town in these “More Naughty Than Nice”. films.

We kick off our list with our Honorable Mention -

Jingle All The Way

Elves (1989) Director: Jeffrey Mandel Stars: Dan Haggerty, Julie Austin, Deanna Lund A teenage girl is stalked by a demonic elf that was created by her Nazi grandfather to mate with her and bring about the master Aryan race And the Antichrist. God bless us, every one! Elves is my new favorite Christmas movie. It has everything you could want in a holiday film: Nazi occult experiments, Santa Claus doing lines of coke and getting stabbed in the penis, incestual »

Fright At Home: June 18th’s DVD & Blu-ray Releases!

18 June 2013 4:06 PM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

Welcome back to another edition of Fright At Home, fiends! It’s been a while since I’ve written up a groovy list of this weeks latest & greatest video releases, so let’s get right down to brass taxes!

This week sees the release of two long requested MGM titles that are getting the lavish Scream Factory treatment, The Howling and Lifeforce! Both are packed to the gills with bonus features (Lifeforce even includes the Hooper’s Directors Cut!); basically they are must-own discs that look pristine.

A segment from the lost Full Moon anthology Pulsepounders finally makes it’s way to DVD after 25 years of obscurity, Charles Band’s The Evil Clergyman! The Soska Twins’ American Mary makes it’s stateside debut, and the Eli Roth produced sequel no one asked for The Last Exorcism Part II hits as well.

Stoker, one of my favorites of 2013 is out also, »

Event Report: Texas Frightmare Weekend 2013

9 May 2013 7:30 AM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

A year has passed, and another Texas Frightmare Weekend has come and gone! Last year Tfw expanded dramatically with a much larger location to become the Southwest's premier horror con. This year they proved that isn't going to change anytime soon.

This con is so hot that guests have begun just showing up without an invite. Veteran character actor Glenn Morshower ("Millennium", The Crazies 2010) popped up on Friday and was set up in the lobby until Saturday, when a table was located for him in the main room. He was swamped all weekend so it's a good thing he came!

The focus of the con (which ran May 3rd-5th) was originally "The Walking Dead," but with a few cancellations (almost all replaced with other guests, some from "Twd"), the star of the Weekend became Danny "Machete" Trejo, who was mobbed every time he was at his table. The presence »

Feel the Rage of The Lumberjack in new Trailer for Axe Giant: The Wrath Of Paul Bunyan!!

11 April 2013 12:07 PM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

Fairy tales. Like any trend, the fairy tale genre has has a renaissance of sorts, thanks to studios giving hip new twists on everything from Hansel and Gretel (in at least four different films based on the duo that were released just last year, including the big budget Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters), Jack and the Beanstalk (X-men/The Usual Suspects director Bryan Singer helmed the recent Jack The Giant Slayer) and about a million more. Most of them don’t really offer much more than a one time watch, but one that looks like a lot of fun is Gary Jones’ Axe Giant: The Wrath Of Paul Bunyan. While a lot of the bigger budget offerings took themselves Way too serious, Axe Giant seems to know what kind of movie it is, and instead of thinking it’s going to be winning awards left and right, it looks like it »

Axe Giant: The Wrath of Paul Bunyan Starts Swinging this Summer

11 April 2013 10:30 AM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

I’ve been looking forward to Axe Giant: The Wrath of Paul Bunyan ever since I first heard about it, and it won’t be too much longer until we all get a chance to see what happens when a great American tall tale gets a monstrous slasher makeover.

Is it correct to call it a slasher? If the killer’s preferred instrument of death is an axe and the killer in question is a giant lumberjack, then wouldn’t it be more appropriate to call it a hacker? Eh, I’m over-thinking this.

Gary Jones, the director Boogeyman 3, Spiders (the 2000 version not the new one) and Mosquito, brings us this dark, contemporary take on the tall tale of lumberjack Paul Bunyan. Kids at a first-offenders boot camp discover that the legend of Paul Bunyan is real but is much more horrifying than they could have imagined. They incur »
