D. Gregor Hagey products
Gregor grew up in the small town of Paris, Ontario with a love of drawing, painting and sculpture. He started shooting short films when he was 13 years old with his family's brand new Betamax camcorder. Gregor turned down the opportunity to study Fine Art at York University in order to attend Ryerson University's Film Studies program. Gregor worked as a PA on 'Searching for Bobby Fischer' in 1992 and was so inspired by Conrad Hall's work that he decided to pursue Cinematography as a career instead of Directing. In his graduating year at Ryerson he was nominated for best student cinematography at the TVO Telefest Awards (1993). Gregor worked in the lighting department on many feature films and TV shows before becoming a Cinematographer full-time. In 2003, the Canadian Society of Cinematographers nominated him for Best Cinematography in a Dramatic Short. He has since been nominated 3 more times at the CSC awards. In 2001 Gregor shot the first HD feature in Canada, Rub & Tug (starring Don McKellar). He was also an an early adopter of the Red One camera. Recent credits include Rob Stefaniuk's feature film Suck and the TV series' Pure Pwnage for Showcase and The Yard for HBO Canada.
