A Look Back At: Halloween 6: The Curse Of Michael Myers

(Editor’s Note: For this weeks’ A Look Back At, our regular contributor Josh Soriano turns his gaze towards the 6th installment in the Halloween franchise: The Curse Of Michael Myers!)

Now that the dust has settled from the actual holiday, it seems the perfect time to talk about one of the most hated Halloween sequels by fans to date, Halloween 6: The Curse Of Michael Myers.

You can’t have a discussion between two Halloween fans without the subject coming up. The fact is, even if you’re a fan of it, you’re aware that The Curse Of Michael Myers is one of the most ridiculous entries of the franchise after Halloween: Resurrection and it can cause quite a debate if you’re one of the ones that defend it. My attempt is not to convince anyone that it’s a good film, because it’s really not,

'Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers' Review

*Warning, possible spoilers below

I’ve always been 50/50 on this film and the first reason which is constantly argued about is the whole premise of the curse of Thorn. As much as I like to believe that Myers truly is the boogeyman, part of me can’t help but think that’s just too easy by the 6th installment. There are, I think, a lot of things to like about this film. It makes some very nice homage’s to the original. Danny dropping the pumpkin,

'Last Kind Words' Review

Reviewed by Kevin Scott, MoreHorror.com

Ghost stories based on urban legend or rural folklore rarely transfer well to film. Oddly enough it seems that there is a more powerful delivery in the written or spoken word without the visuals. It’s refreshing when someone gets it right. Set against the backdrop of picturesque rural Kentucky, “Last Kind Words” works at spinning a tale of the sins of the past coming back to haunt the next generation.

A teenager named Eli and his parents move to an isolated farm to take on laborer jobs. His family life is a dysfunctional cocktail of alcoholism and rage on his father’s part, and complacency and submission on his mother’s.

When things look the bleakest, he meets Amanda at the outskirts of the farm. She’s a beautiful girl about his age that seems like his saving grace. He even loses interest in Katie,

New this Week: ‘Bridesmaids,’ ‘Priest’ and ‘Aliens (Bd)’

Hitting movie theaters this weekend:

Movie of the Week

Priest

The Stars: Paul Bettany, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q

The Plot: A priest (Bettany) disobeys church law in order to track down the vampires who kidnapped his niece.

The Buzz: I’ve got to be honest, I think this film looks horrible. It’s ‘Movie of the Week’ strictly as a path of least resistance. If I happen to have any regular readers out there, they’re certain to know that I’m not going anywhere near Bridesmaids, not even with a blindfold, and so Priest suddenly shines with promise — relatively speaking of course.

Priest continues director Scott Charles Stewart’s working affair with Paul Bettany (whom last teamed together on the unimpressive Legion). Bettany bugs me a bunch, anyone else? I’ve just never taken him well,
