Based on the title Demolition, I was expecting something very different from this trailer, suffice it to say what I got instead was probably just as compelling as what I thought I was getting. “Davis, a successful investment banker, struggles after losing his wife in a tragic car crash. Despite pressure from his father-in-law, Phil, […]

'Demolition' Trailer: Watch Jake Gyllenhaal Demolish His Entire Life

4 February 2016 6:30 PM, PST | Movies.com | See recent Movies.com news »

Jake Gyllenhaal's recent movie wives don't even have a lifespan long enough to survive the trailer. At least that was the case with Southpaw and now Demolition, the latest movie from Wild and Dallas Buyers Club director Jean-Marc Vallée. In it Gyllenhaal stars as a man facing some tough times when his life is shattered by the death of his wife. That may be a somewhat familiar setup for a movie, but what looks to really take Demolition to the next level is yet another remarkable performance by Gyllenhaal. It seems like year after year he's getting better and better material to work with (he's certainly grown a lot since Bubble Boy), and it's probably a safe bet that this is a movie to keep an eye on for his performance alone. When our Erik...

New Poster & Trailer: Jake Gyllenhaal in "Demolition"

4 February 2016 1:23 PM, PST | FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news »

A rather simple deconstruction concept for this poster but it works. You can't really go wrong with that face.

You may recall I was wild about Jake Gyllenhaal's performance when this played at Tiff in September, if less wild about the film surrounding it. It's now scheduled to open on April 8th.

The real question is how many more great star turns does this man have to give before The Academy gives it up for him? He hasn't even been able to snag a second nomination despite running circles around other Best Actor nominated performances.

Here's the new trailer which is a fairly accurate representation of the movie without being excessively spoilery. His wife dies at the very beginning of the movie which is the catalyst for the plot as you can see...

Are you a Yes No or Maybe So? I suspect it depends on how much of a Gyllenhaalic you are. »

Anger. Denial. Bargaining. Depression. Acceptance. Relief? In the latest trailer for Jean-Marc Vallee’s (Dallas Buyers Club) soon-to-be-released DemolitionJake Gyllenhaal’s investment banker, largely unfazed by the sudden death of his doting wife, begins to unravel like one complex piece of origami, and the result is a drama you daren’t take your eye off.

Playing the part of Davis, Gyllenhaal’s protagonist is a wonderful fusion of bemusement and frank honesty, even in the face of a personal crisis. Seeking an outlet for his grief – even if he isn’t aware of it – Davis makes a mountain out of a mole hill when he decides to pen complaints to a vending machine company over a broken machine, catching the attention of Naomi Watts’ customer service rep, Karen.

Fox Searchlight Pictures is now getting ready for the April 8 release, and today we have the second trailer with new footage from this drama, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Naomi Watts and Chris Cooper. This dramatic comedy continues Jake Gyllenhaal's run of off-beat characters such as a disturbed videographer in Nightcrawler and a troubled boxer in last year's Southpaw.

Watch Jake Gyllenhaal Take Apart His Life in This Demolition Trailer

4 February 2016 11:06 AM, PST | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Jake Gyllenhaal is definitely an actor with an eye for interesting roles. More recently, he's done wonders with films like EnemyPrisoners, Nightcrawler, and he even had a bit of a stand out performance in the movie Everest. Given his talent and tendency to pick out spectacular roles, it was a given that he'd end up working with Jean-Marc Valée, the man who's directed such great films as Dallas Buyers Clubs and Wild, and he's done just that with the film Demolition, which follows Jake Gyllenhaal's character following the death of his wife.

This picture may seem vaguely familiar, because we got a trailer for it about four months back, which was around the same time the film opened the Toronto International Film Festival. Well now we got a new trailer for the picture's impending release to the public.

New Demolition Trailer: Jake Gyllenhaal Is Destroying His Life in Order to Put It All Back Together

4 February 2016 10:49 AM, PST | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

Demolition, directed by Dallas Buyers Club and Wild's Jean-Marc Vallée, was supposed to be the movie that got Jake Gyllenhaal over the Oscar hump — until Fox Searchlight decided to release it in April instead of this fall. But the film was still the opening-night selection at last year's Toronto International Film Festival. The indie drama stars Gyllenhaal as an investment banker picking up the pieces (literally) after the death of his wife. As it turns out, the film looks much sunnier than Southpaw, the other movie where Jake Gyllenhaal loses his wife in a tragic accident. As Oscar Wilde once said, to lose one of Jake Gyllenhaal's onscreen wives is a tragedy; to lose two of Jake Gyllenhaal's onscreen wives looks likes carelessness. We see a little more of Naomi Watts, the customer service agent who helps pull Gyllenhaal out of a slump in the newest trailer »

New Trailer for Jean-Marc Vallée's 'Demolition' with Jake Gyllenhaal

"What are we doing, again?" "We're taking apart my marriage." Fox Searchlight has debuted a new trailer for Jean-Marc Vallée's Demolition, starring Jake Gyllenhaal as a depressed man struggling to put his life together after his wife dies in a car accident. This film premiered at Tiff last year (read Marco's review) and has been awaiting release until April this year. Aside from Gyllenhaal, the cast includes Naomi Watts, Chris Cooper, Heather Lind and Judah Lewis. With all the footage from this trailer, and the footage from the first trailer last year, I feel like I've seen pretty much most of the movie and I'm not sure what else there is to this. In all honesty, it looks good but not great, with only so much to offer. Give it a watch below. Jake Gyllenhaal disassembles his life in Exclusive first poster for Demolition

4 February 2016 10:00 AM, PST | Cineplex | See recent Cineplex news »

Jake Gyllenhaal struggles through the loss of his wife by destructing all other aspects of his life in Jean-Marc Vallee’s Demolition.

In this exclusive new poster, the themes of the film are played upon as Davis Mitchell (Gyllenhaal) battles his own sense of self through this tragic event. His way of coping involves writing letters to vending machine companies and literally breaking down and re-building his own life.

The film, which opened to rave reviews when it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, offers a very blunt metaphor about love and loss. Vallee, who is the praised director of films including Dallas Buyers Club andWild, truly finesses his vision with Demolition. It’s a film that brings together themes from many of his previous projects, with another magnificent leading performance from Gyllenhaal.

Jake Gyllenhaal Unravels in New Trailer For Jean-Marc Vallée’s ‘Demolition’

We don’t blame you if you also forgot about DemolitionJean-Marc Vallée‘s latest drama. It opened Toronto International Film Festival to a fairly tepid response last fall and instead of sneaking it in during awards season, Fox Searchlight waited until this spring to release the Jake Gyllenhaal-led feature.

Considering the acting talent involved, we’re still curious about this one, but we’re not expecting too much. Also starring Naomi Watts and Chris Cooper, one can see the new trailer below.
