Trailer For Everybody Wants Some

With Dazed and Confused, Richard Linklater delivered a wonderful love letter to the 70’s and proved he has the uncanny ability to perfectly bottle nostalgia. While he has proved himself again as one of the most consistently great directors working today with the likes of Before Sunset, School of Rock, and Boyhood, he returns to the well somewhat with Everybody Wants Some, said to be a spiritual sequel to Dazed and Confused, which follows a group of college baseball players in the 80’s as they take their first steps into unsupervised adulthood. As before, Linklater’s nostalgia game is on point (even the title is a reference to a Van Halen song from 1980), and he has once again assembled a group of relative unknowns, including Will Brittain, Zoey Dutch, Anthony Guzman, Blake Jenner, Glen Powell (those who watch t.v.’s Scream Queens will know him as the scene stealing Chad Radwell), and Wyatt Russell, »

Watch: First Trailer For Richard Linklater's 'Dazed and Confused' Spiritual Sequel 'Everybody Wants Some'

22 December 2015 8:50 AM, PST | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Can Richard Linklater do for the '80s what he did for the '70s with "Dazed and Confused"? He's gonna try with "Everybody Wants Some," his long-developing "spiritual sequel" to 'Dazed,' one that seems to follow its predecessors in broad strokes, with a new gang of kids, a new era, new music, but the same sense of transition. Only this time, instead of high school, audiences will be headed to college. Will Brittain, Zoey Deutch, Ryan Anthony Guzman, Tyler Hoechlin, Blake Jenner, Glen Powell and Wyatt Russell make up the ensemble cast, with the story revolving around a group of college baseball players as they navigate their way through unsupervised young adulthood. But the tagline perhaps says it best: "Here For A Good Time, Not A Long Time." "Everybody Wants Some" will premiere at SXSW before opening in cinemas on April 15, 2016. Watch below. »
