John Travolta's 'A Three Dog Night' Adds Veronica Ferres

German actress Veronica Ferres has joined John Travolta and Salma Hayek in the adaptation A Three Dog Life.

The project is based on Abigail Thomas' memoir about a tragic car accident that left her husband without his memory. No details were given for Veronica Ferres' role.

Nick Guthe is directing from his own screenplay, with The Solution Entertainment Group's Lisa Wilson selling the project at Cannes on behalf of producers J. Todd Harris, Clark Peterson and Nick Guthe.

Here's what Lisa Wilson had to say about Veronica Ferres in a statement.

Here's today's latest casting news: Halle Berry will star in Luis Prieto's thriller, Kidnap. Jason Sudeikis, Amanda Peet, Jason Mantzoukas, and Natasha Lyonne join writer-director Leslye Headland's comedy Sleeping with Other People, joining Alison Brie and Adam Scott. Veronica Ferres joins writer-director Nick Guthe's A Three Dog Life, which stars Salma Hayek and John Travolta. Hit the jump for more on each project. From screenwriter Knate GwaltneyKidnap is described as "a heart-stopping action thriller following a mother (Berry) who will stop at nothing to rescue her kidnapped son."  Lotus Entertainment will shop the picture to buyers at Cannes.  This marks the second collaborative effort for Lotus, Lorenzo di Bonaventura's production company, and Silver Reel, which currently have the remake of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance in development. Sea of Trees

Naomi Watts is in talks to join Matthew McConaughey in Gus Van Sant's "Sea of Trees". McConaughey will play a man who travels to a famous forest at the base of Mount Fuji in Japan where many go to commit suicide.

Reeling with despair over the death of his terminally ill wife (likely Watts), he meets another lost soul (Ken Watanabe) and ultimately rekindles his desire to live. Shooting will begin around July or August. [Source: Screen]

John Travolta To Play "Gummybear"

John Travolta is set to play Gummybear (aka. Gummibar), the multi-lingual digital character that has generated 3.6+ billion downloads and become an established global brand, in a $30 million CG animated feature film spin-off.

A phenomenon similar to the 'Crazy Frog', the character is known for performing the Gummy bear-related series of songs on various albums with the help of content partners like Emi, Universal, Warner Music and Sony BMG Music Entertainment.

The 3D feature will be produced in Montreal by Oscar Generale ("Casino Jack"), Transfilm's Jonathan Vanger ("Upside Down") and the UK Spice Factory's ("The Merchant of Venice"). Animation houses in Montreal, China and Korea and are in discussions with directors.

George Gallo ("Bad Boys") penned the script in which Gummy and his friends - a vegetarian vampire bat, a cat and a chameleon -fighting to save an alien planet from destruction. Production is slated to begin on September 29th. »

John Travolta and Salma Hayek are to star in “A Three Dog Life,” a drama based on the memoirs of Abigail Thomas.

Thomas reinvented her life to live near her husband, who suffered major hallucinations after a near-fatal car accident.

The film is written, produced and directed by Nick Guthe. J. Todd Harris (“The Kids Are All Right”) and Clark Peterson (“Monster”) also produce.

Sales outside the U.S. are by the Solution Group, while CAA and Wme co-represent the film in the U.S.
