Mini Biography

Devon Gummersall's acting career is best characterized by intriguing roles such as Brian Krakow in the pubescent paradigm of the early 90s "My So-Called Life", the self-destructive misogynist Charlie in the acclaimed independent feature "The Young Unknowns", Lisa, a lesbian identified man on Showtime's "The L-Word", and as the visually impaired, but brilliant, Jack in the new indie thriller "Reeker". As of recently Gummersall's creativity and professionalism have expanded to other facets of the industry.  The artful character of Gummersall's vision is a result of a perceptive wit mixed with an inherited spatial creativity, his father being the artist C. Greg Gummersall. Gummersall's experience and well perceived influences have refined him into a compelling director. He has shadowed Marshall Herskowitz directing "Once and Again" as well as Rodrigo Garcia directing "Six Feet Under", and directed three short films in the past year and a half. The first film, "Robbing Hef", was written and directed by Gummersall and stars Vincent Ventresca, Ever Carradine, and Jeremy Sisto, in a farce about a bungled attempt to steal the first Playboy ever printed. The second short film, "Something More", was directed by Gummersall and written by Billy Burke, with a cast which  includes Billy Burke, Tony Shalhoub, Adam Scott and Gina Philips. It follows four deadbeat friends, an older couple, and a handful of strippers who get together for a poker game that temporarily transcends the dullness of their daily lives. The third short "Marge and Melvin", in which Gummersall directed and starred in, follows a man's last drink at a bar who meets a girl that makes him reconsider the inevitable: the 50 pills he already swallowed and their effect. This short stars Devon himself alongside actress Majandra Delfino.

Next for Gummersall is the feature titled "Flourescent". Under the tutelage of Quentin Tarantino and producer Lawrence Bender, Adam Christian Clark is set to direct this highly-stylized psychological thriller. Gummersall will play the leading man whose struggle for normality is put to the test when things take a very bizarre turn for the worst.
