Tremors 5 Movie Trailer Promises New Threats, Same Cheese

27 July 2015 5:51 PM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

Eager to see what Tremors 5 has in store for fans of the cheesy monster movie franchise? Well you're in luck as today brings us the first official trailer, and a release date for the direct-to-blu-ray sequel.  Come inside to check it all out!

I knew Tremors 5 was coming.  We'd heard about it last year, but for the most part, work on the film has been fairly quiet.  The sequel has been trying to get off the ground for a decade now, but die hard fans have something concrete today...the first trailer.  Check it out!

It looks about like what'd you expect a Tremors 5 movie to look like.  While the first film is a classic, it's cheesy and goofy.  The subsequent sequels took the campiness to an all new level, but there's still an avid audience for them (myself included).  They aren't good films, but I'll be damned if I can't stop watching them, »

From Zoolander 2 to 23 Jump Street, with 100s in-between. Here's our rundown of the assorted movie sequels in the works...

Think Hollywood is bereft of original ideas? You just might after this. Here's our look at the assorted movie sequels currently in the works. Since we last did a list like this, we've dropped films that seem to have died a death - Wanted 2, Spring Breakers 2 - but we'll keep this rundown up to date over the coming month.

Without further ado...

23 Jump Street

Sony is pressing ahead with a third Jump Street movie, as well as a possible Jump Street vs Men In Black film, and a female-headlined spin-off. For 23 Jump Street specifically, Rodney Rothman is back and working on the script (he wrote the second one). It's unclear yet if Chris Miller and Phil Lord can find breathing space in their schedule to direct. Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are both expected back, »

Kevin Bacon keen on Tremors return

20 May 2015 4:45 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

He’s been absent from three sequels (not to mention the upcoming fifth instalment), but it seems that we may one day see Kevin Bacon returning to the Tremors franchise, with the actor revealing to Metro that he’d be keen on reprising his role as Val McKee from the original 1990 cult horror comedy.

“Definitely Tremors, but part of what’s great about that movie is there are next to no digital effects,” said Bacon when asked by the paper which of his prior movies would benefit from today’s special effects technology. “The monsters are done with puppetry, and it’s still off, funny and scary – it’s a cool accomplishment. I’d love to do something else with Tremors and revisit the character 25 years later.”

The Bacon-less Tremors 5 is set for release in October, with Michael Gross reprising his role as Burt Gummer alongside new addition Jamie Kennedy »

Film Review: ‘Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead: The Story of the National Lampoon’

10 February 2015 2:04 PM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Punch-drunk and very much alive, “Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead: The Story of the National Lampoon” is a generous and briskly entertaining doc that traces the titular humor magazine’s lasting influence on American comedy. Although the film hews closely to the usual reminiscence-doc formula, ample laughs — both from the original magazine pieces and from their creators’ recollections — make this a real nonfiction crowdpleaser, with broader appeal than even a fest favorite like “Jodorowsky’s Dune.”

After “Smiling Through the Apocalypse: Esquire in the ‘6os” and “Hugh Hefner: Playboy, Activist and Rebel,” a cynic might suggest that one could take any publication that had its heyday in the 1960s or 1970s; interview the contributors who were there, man; and concoct a chatty doc-by-numbers. Even so, helmer Douglas Tirola (“All In: The Poker Movie”) pulls it off with style, not only assembling an impressive roster of former Lampoon contributors, orbiters and celebrity fans, »

Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead: The Story of the National Lampoon

Written by Douglas Tirola & Mark Monroe

USA | UK, 2015

The new documentary Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead: The Story of the National Lampoon takes us back to the birth of the ultimate problem child, the National Lampoon magazine.  Arrested development and controlled substances aside, the Lampoon crew shepherded comedy from its antiseptic television roots through the youth counterculture and back into the mainstream again.  It was unfiltered anarchy; vulgar, subversive, and hilarious.  Get ready to laugh, feel ashamed for laughing, and then laugh some more.

The list of alumni from National Lampoon reads like a who’s who of comedy royalty.  Belushi, Chase, Ramis, Radner, Guest, Murray… and those are just the performers.  That doesn’t include all the writers and illustrators toiling behind the scenes of each fevered edition.  Writers like co-founders Doug Kenney and Henry Beard, »
