Hunch: CBS Gives Put Pilot To Procedural Drama

20 July 2016 11:49 AM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

This is no wild guess. CBS has made a put-pilot commitment to the Hunch TV show pilot from Christopher Murphey and Matthew Gross. Murphey created the Body of Proof  TV series, which was cancelled by ABC in 2013, after three seasons. He and Gross were co-showrunners on the medical drama, starring Dana Delany and Jeri Ryan.A procedural, Hunch hails from CBS Television Studios and EuropaCorp TV Studios. As a put-pilot, Hunch is likely to be greenlit, because if the show doesn't air as a series premiere or at least a special, the network owes financial penalties. Per Deadline, "Hunch centers on a Lapd detective who begrudgingly teams up with a celebrity psychic who, unfortunately, is also his ex-wife."Read More… »

27 May 2016 10:34 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Paris — While Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp has been dominating headlines in recent years with films such as “Taken” and “Lucy,”  the company’s TV division has been growing at a steady pace since opening an L.A. office and is lining up a strong roster of franchise-based spinoffs and original drama.

EuropaCorp Television, formally Cipango, is fully in the hands of division head Thomas Anargyros now that his former co-chief, Edouard de Vesinne, has been named deputy CEO of EuropaCorp. The TV outfit, which is headquartered at La Cite du Cinema on the outskirts of Paris, launched EuropaCorp TV Studios USA shepherded by Matthew Gross in May 2014 and is already on track to deliver the TV spinoff of “Taken” for NBC in 2017. The American division has five other shows in the pipeline, including “Bulletproof” which has pre-sold to Amazon Studios.

Today, TV accounts for about 20% of EuropaCorp’s business, and »

TNT Buys ‘Artificial Intelligence’, A New Show By Luc Besson & Bill Wheeler

2 March 2016 5:13 AM, PST | AreYouScreening.com | See recent AreYouScreening news »

TNT made a major play in acquiring Artificial Intelligence, a new show that will revolve around an “escaped” AI, and the efforts to monitor, stop, prevent, understand whatever it may be trying to do. The show is written by Luc Besson (who may direct the pilot) and Bill Wheeler, and marks a new step in TNT’s growing effort to include… “out of the ordinary” programming.

With Lucy 2 and the massive-budget Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets already on his plate, this shift in gears may make for one of television’s most interesting new shows. Considering the rather open description, which could lead us through a unique vision of what it means to live with an AI “out there,” there’s no telling exactly where this show could take audiences.

Still, this one might really come down to casting, and like a lot of Luc Besson’s projects, »

TNT Plans Luc Besson Sci-Fi TV Series

1 March 2016 8:57 PM, PST | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

TNT has picked up EuropaCorp TV USA's original science fiction series "Artificial Intelligence" - the first time "The Fifth Element" and "Lucy" director Luc Besson has written a television series for the Us market.

The series essentially sounds like "Species" but with an A.I. rather than an alien. In it an artificial intelligence entity escapes its laboratory confinement and starts carrying out mysterious plans. The AI's creator assembles a team of specialists to discern its objective and warn the world of imminent dangers.

Besson and Bill Wheeler co-created and will write and executive produce the series. Besson is also reportedly considering directing the pilot, the first he has ever done.

Matthew Gross, Edouard de Vesinne and Thomas Anargyros would also executive produce.

'Taken' TV Show Finds Its Young Liam Neeson

22 February 2016 3:08 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Back in September, NBC issued a straight-to-series order for a prequel TV series based on the hit action movie franchise Taken. We haven't heard much about the series since then, but today we have word from The Hollywood Reporter that the show has found its leading man, Vikings star Clive Standen. The actor will play a younger version of Liam Neeson's Bryan Mills in the series, which is set in modern-day.

In the original Taken, Liam Neeson starred as Bryan Mills, a retired CIA agent who springs into action when his daughter (Maggie Grace) is kidnapped during a trip to Paris. After contacting one of the thugs who took his daughter, Mills delivered an iconic speech to one of his daughter's kidnappers, revealing the "very particular set of skills" he acquired over a long career, which makes him "a nightmare for people like you." Clive Standen Inks Deal To Topline NBC’s Taken Prequel Series As Young CIA Agent

22 February 2016 2:13 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Before stepping foot on the icy hills of Everest, actor Clive Standen carved out a career in period dramas, be it Camelot or History’s acclaimed Vikings series, where he plays the role of Rollo. That’s all about to change now that The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Standen will headline NBC’s upcoming Taken prequel series, stepping into the shoes of a young Liam Neeson.

Chronicling the formative years of Neeson’s hardboiled super agent Bryan Mills, the network’s high-profile offshoot will document Mills’ first foray into the CIA, and how he accrued that particular set of skills in the first place.

A prequel at its core, Luc Besson – director behind the 2008 sleeper hit – is attached to executive producer NBC’s straight-to-series project. Alexander Cary of Homeland fame will pen the script and executive produce opposite Besson. Producing duties will be leveraged between Matthew Gross, Edouard de Vesinne and Thomas Anargyros, »
