Before the vampire Edward Cullen, there was the Hogwarts student Cedric Diggory. British actor Robert Pattinson went from the mega-franchise of "Harry Potter" in 2005's "Goblet of Fire" to the mega-franchise of last year's "Twilight."
Now that Pattinson has entered a world in which bloodsuckers chill Stateside — and now that he must contend with Twilighters going wild for every bit of RPattz gossip out there — Daniel Radcliffe looks at his onetime "Potter" co-star's career arc as educational.
"It's really interesting for me, as somebody who is a central feature of a pretty huge franchise," said Radcliffe, who returns as Harry Potter in the "Half-Blood Prince" on Wednesday (July 15). "It's interesting to

It's kind of amazing to look back over J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" book series.
The first book, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," arrived in the United States at the end of 1998. Three years later, director Chris Columbus' movie adaptation hit theaters. Perhaps more than anything else, fans delighted in seeing their favorite characters from the book series — then on its fourth entry, "Goblet of Fire" — brought to life by a group of perfectly cast actors, led by Daniel Radcliffe's Harry.
Now in 2009, we're coming into the home stretch for the movies. The final book reached readers in summer 2007, just a week after the film adaptation of book five, "Order of the Phoenix,

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Directed by: David Yates
Cast: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Alan Rickman, Michael Gambon, Jim Broadbent, Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Felton
Running Time: 2 hr 35 mins
Rating: PG
Release Date: July 15, 2009
Plot: It’s the sixth year at Hogwarts for Harry Potter (Radcliffe). Now he’s got Draco (Tom Felton), who is up to no good. Plus, Harry has feelings for Ginny (Wright), and Ron (Grint) and Hermionie (Watson) start to notice each other in a new light. There’s also Voldemort’s past and a mysterious Half-Blood Prince for Harry to deal with, so he’s got a lot on his plate.
Who’s It For? Family fun for all. I’d keep the little kids away, because there is some dark death lurking. In fact, here’s a good barometer … can your kids read the books? Then they can probably handle the films.

No greater companion to The Twilight Saga: New Moon exists upon the list of heavily anticipated films for this year than Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince. The sophomoric bickering, tidy love triangles, and effects of certain potions (as portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, the suddenly-so-statuesque Bonnie Wright, and newcomers Freddie Stroma and Jessie Cave particularly) prove to be a light-hearted addition and interlude between the otherwise quite dramatic and looming conflict felt most strongly by Harry and Dumbledore. Particularly, Tom Felton delivers a clean and authoritative performance as the much-conflicted Draco Malfoy. Additional cast members such as Jim Broadbent and Hero Fiennes-Tiffin really bring something special to the film. It is Michael Gambon and Alan Rickman who take the cake in this film, though.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Michael Gambon, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint
Directed by David Yates
Rated PG
The final 30 minutes of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince are just about perfect, if you forgive the epilogue. We're not supposed to be holding our breath then, anyway; that's the exhale. But the climactic events of the film - what you're truly paying to see even if you don't know it - are as good as anything we've yet seen in this series.
I won't spoil the details. You either know them already or have avoided them this long. Suffice it to say, there is a battle between good and evil, and generally speaking, we know who's on which team.
Director David Yates, who also made the fifth Potter film, Order of the Phoenix, as a more efficient and commercial venture than we'd seen in the previous few years,

As I sat there, an hour and forty-five minutes into the Potter series’ heretofore magnum opus, it was clear to me that director David Yates was crafting a traditional fright show with this next sequence: Harry and Dumbledore have found their way into a place of a clearly diabolical nature, and there hasn’t been a sound in five or six seconds. Suddenly, a skeletal claw grabs Harry’s arm and half the theater jumps out of their seat. Being so completely accustomed to the timing involved in these scenes, I just acknowledged Yates’ command over his audience with a cocky nod and grin, and kept watching intently.

As I sat there, two hours and ten minutes into the Potter series’ heretofore magnum opus, I watched with bated breath for the moment everyone had known was coming for years. Snape stares Dumbledore in the face and says it, and

MSNBC has a new article on Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe, and Emma Watson, citing how they've grown up and managed to stay out of trouble. The writers also provide some "friendly advice" for each of them. Here's what they say for Rupert: 1. Hook up with the smart British comedians. 2. Be a leading man, but subvert the paradigm. 3. Talk to Professor Snape. To elaborate on the last one slightly, MSNBC offered Rupert some good words of wisdom about taking a Hollywood stereotype like the British Bad Guy and run with it in the style of Alan Rickman.

Short Version: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince might be the best Harry Potter film yet.
Screen Rant reviews 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince'
If you really care about Harry Potter, Ron & Ginny Weasley and Hermione Granger as living, breathing characters then you’re going to love Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Disclosure: I’ve only ever read the first book and while I’ve thought the previous films were “Ok,” I’ve never been a huge fan of the series. This latest film was directed by David Yates, the same fellow who directed the previous film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - and for perspective, I don’t even remember was that one was about.
Having said that, I believe this latest installment is arguably the best Harry Potter film that’s been released so far.
This is the sixth year Harry and Co.

It's a tricky situation -- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is a strong entry in the series about the boy wizard, but won't work as a stand-alone film. No background is provided, so audience members must have seen the previous movies or read the J.K. Rowling books or they'll be lost. Fortunately, the movie doesn't assume you've read the sixth book -- there are no gaps in the story that require the novel to fill.
In case you haven't read the book, Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) returns to Hogwarts in Half-Blood Prince for his sixth year of study, while Death Eaters terrorize both the magical community and the ordinary Muggle world. Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) trusts Harry with increasingly important tasks in the fight against Voldemort ... and Harry is also learning a lot from an old Potions textbook that contains clever notes from someone self-styled the "Half-Blood Prince." Harry's best

Emma Watson's swotty character Hermione Granger has been named as the most beloved character in the Harry Potter franchise, according to a new poll.
Fans of the wizard tales voted the bushy-haired academic as their favourite member of the Harry Potter gang.
And Potter devotees are adamant the 19 year old actress will have the most successful career after the films come to an end in 2011.
Some 51 per cent believed Watson would enjoy a more lucrative future than her co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, with 39 per cent insisting she'd become a sex symbol.
Watson has already proved a hit on the fashion circuit, landing modelling jobs with high-class design house Burberry.

You have to give the creators of the Harry Potter movies credit: they learn from their mistakes.
The Harry Potter movie franchise has been notoriously hit-and-miss, from the sublime (Prisoner of Azkaban) to the disappointing (Philosopher’s Stone and Goblet of Fire).
I can only imagine the pressure these filmmakers are under: legions of adoring book fans often want to see the on-screen story exactly as they’ve read it on the page.
But with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the sixth movie in the series, the producers have realized that it’s far more important to have a coherent, engaging movie than it is to be entirely faithful to the books.
That being the case, the movie takes some major liberties with the book, and makes some major edits.
The result is the best Harry Potter movie so far, by far. And for the record, it completely captures

Harry and his gang are back in David Yates' "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," the sixth installment in the popular series. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Michael Gambon, Jim Broadbent and Alan Rickman star, and here is what the Web's critics have to say about the movie:
• CinemaBlend's Josh Tyler: "Instead of action it substitutes dramatic tension which builds throughout the course of the movie."
• Brad Brevet at RopeOfSilicon: "Even though I wasn't bowled over, 'Half-Blood Prince' never felt like it was two-and-a-half hours long and I would have gladly sat through another five hours if parts one and two of 'Deathly Hallows' were ready right now…"
• Joblo's Jenna Bush: "You would think this would all start to get old after a while, but the truth is, it hasn't. And film number six is the best of the lot."
• LatinoReview's Ron Henriques: "Still, at the end of the day,
