Chris Rock Saturday Night Live Monologue & First Clip From Top Five

2 November 2014 11:20 AM, PST | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Former SNL cast member and Top Five writer, director and star Chris Rock returned to host the show’s November 1st episode. Check out his hilarious opening monologue, a skit from last night’s show and the first clip from Rock’s upcoming film.

A big hit at the Toronto International Film Festival, Paramount Pictures will release the film in theaters on December 12. JoBlo calls Top Five, “one of the funniest movies of the year.” (review)

Pulsing with the rhythm of his greatest stand-up, Chris Rock’s Top Five takes things to the next level, reveling in the high and the low, and blending a star-studded comedic romp with an irresistible romance.

Top Five digs under the surface of show business, politics, rap, and the exigencies of being black and famous today—holding it all up to the light in the way only Chris Rock can. Mingling echoes of Woody Allen »

Chris Rock Is The Funniest Man In America In Top Five Trailer

17 October 2014 12:02 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

After making a name for himself in comedy clubs with his wham-bam stand-up schtick, Chris Rock’s move into movies was a natural progression for the gifted funnyman. His fast-paced frenetic style has made his work on projects such as the Grown Ups franchise, zap and crackle despite their less than inspired subject matter. While he’s definitely scored some high points during his time on the big screen (2 Days In Paris), he’s in need of a boost; and his next effort, Top Five is the perfect vehicle to reignite his career.

Written, produced and directed by Rock, Top Five earned rave reviews earlier this year when it debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival. Needless to say, as a hot property it was snatched up by Paramount who have now begun their marketing campaign for the offbeat comedy. In the pic, Rock stars as a has-been comic, who »

Check out Chris Rock And Rosario Dawson In New Trailer for Top Five Movie

16 October 2014 6:51 PM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Paramount Pictures has released the trailer for Chris Rock’s film Top Five. Pulsing with the rhythm of his greatest stand-up, Chris Rock’s Top Five takes things to the next level, reveling in the high and the low, and blending a star-studded comedic romp with an irresistible romance.

Top Five digs under the surface of show business, politics, rap, and the exigencies of being black and famous today – holding it all up to the light in the way only Chris Rock can. Mingling echoes of Woody Allen and Dick Gregory with the energy of Kanye West and Jay Z, Top Five is an original and radically new kind of American movie.

The movie screened in September 2014 at the Toronto International Film Festival. In her review, Justine Smith (Sound on Sight) wrote, “Much of the film’s strength lies in the incredible chemistry that exists between Chris Rock and Rosario Dawson. »

Billy Bob Thornton Makes a Pitch for ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ ‘Game of Thrones’ Guest Spots

29 July 2014 1:22 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

At Monday’s Emmy Performers Peer Group party at the Montage Beverly Hills, the nominees thought long and hard about which TV shows they’d like to grace as a guest star. But “Veep’s” Tony Hale didn’t hesitate with his bid for a role on IFC’s “Portlandia.”

“Hands down, Portlandia,” he remarked. “Definitely. It puts a mirror up to society and just allows people to laugh at it. It kind of wakes us up to the ridiculousness of life and I just think it’s brilliant.”

Hale’s own show was the pick of “Scandal’s” Dan Bucatinsky. “Not to go onto another political show but the show is so funny — it had such a great year. I think it would be really fun!”

Coming off a successful first television run on “Fargo,” Billy Bob Thornton entertained the idea of a part very different from the miniseries’ Lorne Malvo. »

Watch TV One’s Fascinating & Informative ‘Unsung Hollywood’ Episode On Actor/Director Bill Duke

12 April 2014 9:26 AM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

Has anyone been watching Unsung Hollywood on TV One? It’s a pretty solid show that aims to, as it says, "highlight subjects and stories that have never or rarely been told... about ground-breaking artists and entertainers who’ve  helped to elevate and transform our world."Previous episodes have focused on Pam Grier, Dick Gregory and the gone-way-too-early-before-his-time comic, the great Robin Harris. But last week’s episode on actor and director Bill Duke was pretty fascinating. The episode revealed a lot about Duke - from his hard scrabble childhood, though his early career as a stage actor (which he almost derailed due to drugs, before he found transcendental meditation) to his early acting work in television (some of them not so great, like his first TV role as pimp in the Kojak series, which must be seen to be believed), to eventually his career as a TV and film director. »
