Sandra Bullock & David Gordon Green Team for 'Our Brand is Crisis'

Following big success with Gravity last year, plans for Sandra Bullock to return to Warner Bros. are solidifying as the studio has just given a greenlight the political dramedy Our Brand is Crisis. The project has been in development for years at George Clooney's Smokehouse Pictures, and Bullock began circling the project late last year during awards season. Now it seems to be coming together as Variety has learned Pineapple Express and Prince Avalanche director David Gordon Green is set to direct the film based on Rachel Boynton's 2005 documentary of the same name about American political strategies used in Bolivia. The documentary followed real-life consultants James Carville and Stan Greenberg, but it sounds this film will follow fictional political consultants instead. The film is described as a satirical comedy about American spin doctors competing in the same Presidential election in the South American nation. Sandra Bullock has been loosely attached to political drama-comedy Our Brand Is Crisis since late last year, back when she was out stumping for Gravity’s award campaign and talked to co-star George Clooney about the film, one he was producing. Things have moved on since then, and David Gordon Green has, according to Variety, won the job of directing the movie, a move that in turn has spurred Bullock to fully commit to it.Crisis is adapted from Rachel Boynton’s 2005 documentary, which saw President Clinton’s former advisors James Carville and Stan Greenberg applying what they had learned in the trenches of American politics to a campaign in Bolivia, and the effects it has on the process.How exactly Bullock’s character will fit into the film is not clear right now, though chances are the plot will follow similar lines, ahd she might be a political specialist »
