Warners and Legendary Count On The "Seventh Son"

VancouverFilm.Net reports that principal photography continues on director Sergei Bodrov's Vancouver-lensed, Warners/Legendary fantasy action feature "Seventh Son", based on the book "The Spook’s Apprentice" by author Joseph Delaney.

As VancouverFilm first reported in its March 2012 film production update, the new movie started shooting March 19.

"Seventh Son" stars Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, Ben Barnes, Alicia Vikander, Antje Traue, Olivia Williams and Kit Harington :

First Look at Concept Art for Seventh Son

Last spring, we reported Jeff Bridges’ casting in Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ big-screen adaptation of Joseph Delaney’s young adult series The Last Apprentice (aka The Wardstone Chronicles in the UK). Now, we have official news from Warner Bros. Pictures that production has begun on this project, titled The Seventh Son, which also stars Julianne Moore and Ben Barnes and have a first look at concept art for the film.

Well, okay, not really, but it is hard to not get that kind of vibe after seeing the latest sliver of concept art for Legendary and Warner Brothers' upcoming adaptation of The Spook's Apprentice known as The Seventh Son.

No, that's not the cover of the new Moody Blues album you're seeing. Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures' Seventh Son started shooting on March 19th under the direction of award-winning filmmaker Sergei Bodrov. And to celebrate (or whatever) Legendary has released some concept art for the film! It certainly gives it that Lord Of The Rings vibe doesn't it? 'Killing' Star Joel Kinnaman Will Star In 'RoboCop'

It's official: Joel Kinnaman will star as the title character in the upcoming remake of "RoboCop." In other casting news, Emmy Rossum heads to "Beautiful Creatures" and Olivia Williams joins "The Seventh Son."

Joel Kinnaman Confirmed As "RoboCop"

Big congrats go out to Joel Kinnaman. "The Killing" star is finally confirmed (thanks to Deadline) as the lead in Jose Padilha's reboot of "RoboCop." He'll play Officer Alex Murphy, who is turned into a crime-fighting cyborg after he's killed in the line of duty. The role was originally played by Peter Weller.

Emmy Rossum Joins "Beautiful Creatures"

Variety is reporting that "Shameless" star Emmy Rossum is the latest actress to join the cast of the supernatural love story "Beautiful Creatures." She'll play the villain in the film. "Beautiful Creatures" also stars Viola Davis, Emma Thompson and Jack O'Connell.

Actress Olivia Williams has joined the cast of The Seventh Son for Warner Bros. and director Sergey Bodrov (Mongol).

The project is adapted from Joseph Delaney's young adult novel series, about a young man who learns he has magical powers because he is the seventh son of a seventh son. He learns his magical craft from a "spook." Jeff Bridges, Ben Barnes, Alicia Vikander, Julianne Moore, Kit Harington, and Antje Traue also star. It isn't known what character Olivia Williams will play.

Sergey Bodrov is directing The Seventh Son from an adapted screenplay by Matt Greenberg. Thomas Tull, Basil Iwanyk, and Lionel Wigram are producing, with Jon Jashni and Alysia Cotter executive producing. It isn't known when production will begin on The Seventh Son.

Game of Thrones' Kit Harington has signed on to join Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures' The Seventh Son, during the HBO series' hiatus.

Kit Harington joins a cast that includes Jeff Bridges, Ben Barnes, Julianne Moore, Jennifer Lawrence and Alicia Vikander with Sergey Bodrov helming.

The Seventh Son is adapted from Joseph Delaney's young adult series about a teen who's the seventh son of a seventh son, and learns about wizardry from a forbidding spook.

Kit Harington will play the former apprentice of Jeff Bridges' character.

Matt Greenberg penned the script.

Production is expected to start sometime in April.

"Game of Thrones" breakout star Kit Harington is in final negotiations to join the cast of Sergey Bodrov's "The Seventh Son" at Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures says Variety.

Based on Joseph Delaney's children's book series "The Wardstone Chronicles" (aka. "The Last Apprentice"), the story follows a young man named Tom (Ben Barnes) in training to be the apprentice of a 'Spook' (Jeff Bridges), a fighter against evil magic, in the 1700's.

Trouble begins when his friend Alice (Alicia Vikander) tricked into releasing the most sinister witch in the world (Julianne Moore). Harington will play the former apprentice of Bridges' character.

Matt Greenberg adapted the script while Bodrov, Thomas Tull, Basil Iwanyk and Lionel Wigram are producing. Shooting kicks off in April and Harington will shoot his role before he begins filming the third season of "Game of Thrones" in July. »
