Johnny Depp Imparts Wisdom in New ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’ Trailer

2 March 2017 6:42 AM, PST | TheHDRoom | See recent TheHDRoom news »

This morning Ellen DeGeneres debuted Disney's new Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales trailer on The Ellen Show that has substantially more Johnny Depp as a blundering Jack Sparrow than the previous teaser and trailer combined.

For Sparrow's latest and likely last adventure, he must run from Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), a former enemy who even in death is hellbent on finishing off every last pirate on the seas. A younger Sparrow, who is a spitting image of Depp in full Sparrow makeup, sent Salazar and his crew to their graves.  Now Salazar and his ghost crew are out for revenge and enlists the help of Captain Barbossa to track down Sparrow before the pirate can locate the Trident of Poseidon to destroys the ghosts.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales also stars Kaya Scodelario (The Maze Runner) as Carina Smyth, Brenton Thwaites as Henry, »

While Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean series has never reclaimed the fun and spunk of its first outing, audiences have not tired of the series. Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow has become a beloved, if slightly sozzled, hero and the CG wash of the recent films have kept us coming back for more. Today there is a new trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

This time around the guest villain is Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar. He has a murky past with Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow and looks to seek his revenge from beyond the grave. He sets sail from a hellish place known, handily, as The Devil’s Triangle with his sights set on Sparrow.

The whopping cast includes a return for Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush and Kevin McNally along with Stephen Graham, Martin Klebba, »

1 March 2017 12:43 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Disney has released a new poster and concept art illustration for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, to get fans ready for the new trailer debuting tomorrow. The poster offers a new look at the villainous Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), along with Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), Captain Barbosa (Geoffrey Rush) and newcomers Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario) and Henry (Brenthon Thwaites). The studio has also released an intriguing piece of concept art, that features "ghost sharks" that will be seen in the movie.

Disney debuted the new poster on social media today, while AMC Theatres debuted the concept art. It isn't exactly clear how these "ghost sharks" came to be, or how they fit into this story, but they most likely aren't related to the 2013 Syfy original movie Ghost Shark, or its 2015 sequel Ghost Shark 2: Urban Jaws. It's possible we'll get our first look at these »

Full Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Trailer Inbound; Take A Peek At The Ghost Sharks

Captain Jack Sparrow has been gone an awful long time – six years, to be exact, but Johnny Depp’s inimitable hero will be back on deck later this year thanks to the release of Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Fittingly, Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg’s sequel, angled as the fifth installment in Disney’s tentpole franchise, opens at a time when Captain Jack has all but fallen off the radar, hunted to the point of no return by the villainous Salazar (Javier Bardem). Don’t worry, Depp’s lead won’t spend the entirety of Dead Men Tell No Tales in exile, and previous teasers have hinted at the comeback story that fans have been longing for since 2011. Speaking of which, it looks as though the full-length trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is now ready to set sail. First reported by Trailer Track, »

Exclusive: Thomas Turgoose on Butterfly Kisses & This is England

Known, primarily, for portraying Shaun in the breathtaking film/TV series This is England, Thomas Turgoose can be seen in Butterfly Kisses, playing snooker club manager ‘Shrek’ in Rafael Kapelinski’s debut production. The film, showing at the Berlinale, gets into the head of its teenage protagonist (Theo Stevenson), who is harbouring dark, perverse sexual desires.

We had the pleasure of chatting to Turgoose about the production, and how brave a piece of contemporary cinema it is. We also went on ask about This is England (naturally) – as the young actor describes just how special the experience has been to him over the years, and the incredible friendships he’s formed with his fellow cast members and crew. He also speaks briefly about his forthcoming collaboration with Margot Robbie in Terminal, and candidly discusses his career, and how he’s overcome a difficult period in his life. »

Extended TV Spot For Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Introduces The Undead Will Turner

6 February 2017 9:58 AM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Amid last night’s Super Bowl trailer bonanza, Disney conjured up a suitably swashbuckling new promo for Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, one in which Johnny Depp’s inimitable Captain Jack Sparrow stepped out of his self-imposed exile – and not a moment too soon.

For in Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg’s upcoming sequel, Sparrow will find himself between the crosshairs of Captain Salazer, a ghastly pirate who breaks free from the Devil’s Triangle – a sort of supernatural prison on the high seas. With an undead army in tow, Javier Bardem’s ruthless and downright grotesque baddie is hellbent on killing every pirate in sight, and up above you’ll see Salazer’s scorched Earth approach take into effect.

Featuring much of the same footage seen in last night’s Super Bowl promo, there’s not an awful lot of new material to mine in the extended TV spot above, »

Last night, Disney aired a Super Bowl trailer for their highly-anticipated Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which is set to hit theaters on May 26, 2017. Many eagle-eyed fans noticed that this new footage offered our first look at Orlando Bloom's Will Turner, who has changed quite a bit since we last saw him in 2007's Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. The actor and his beloved character didn't appear in the last swashbuckling adventure, 2011's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and while he is returning in this movie, it remains to be seen how large or small a role he may have.

A number of Twitter users captured screen grabs from the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales trailer last night to show us our first look at Will Turner. Way back in September 2014, Orlando Bloom hinted that he may return, »

Jack Sparrow Returns in Pirates of the Caribbean 5 Super Bowl Trailer

5 February 2017 3:23 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

It has been nearly six years since we last saw Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow on the big screen in 2011's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, but don't think that Disney forgot about one of their most bankable franchises. This year, they are releasing the fifth movie in the series, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Up until now, we have only seen one, brief teaser for the movie, but Disney has just released their new Super Bowl trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean 5 online.

Since the average cost of a 30-second chunk of ad time cost a reported $5 million this year, Disney spent some major money advertising Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales during the big game. Given the amount of money the Mouse House has been raking in at the box office in recent years, they surely have it to spare. »
