Candice Accola, Nina Dobrev

The Vampire Diaries, Season 5, Episode 18: “Resident Evil

Written by Brian Young and Caroline Dries

Directed by Paul Wesley

Airs Thursdays at 8pm (Et) on The CW

The deaths of both Silas and Ayana earlier in the season put Elena in the unique position of being the world’s last doppelganger of her kind. As the Travelers indicated, however, Stefan was not the last doppelganger from the Silas line, a situation that had changed by the time Caroline and Enzo returned from Atlanta. This week’s episode explores one of the side effects of the duo’s status, in an entertaining outing that helps establish the extent of the new threat against the Mystic Falls group.

The emergence of the Travelers as a primary threat is a strong aspect of this week’s episode. While the Travelers have been around since the beginning of the season, »

The Vampire Diaries Review: “While You Were Sleeping” (Season 5, Episode 16)

24 March 2014 8:01 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Katherine Pierce (Nina Dobrev) may be dead, but she’s far from gone. On this episode of The Vampire Diaries, Elena (also Dobrev) explores a bit of her inner-mind and discovers that Katherine hasn’t lost just yet. You may recall that as a final parting gift to her doppelganger, Katherine injected herself with a little vengeance – in the form of the vampire-eat-vampire serum, laced with werewolf venom for an extra kick. Werewolf venom, even in this form, is still deadly to vampires. As we’ve seen before, the decline is a painful process of physical ailments and hallucinations. So not only does Elena spend most of this episode writhing in emotional pain as she slowly loses her grasp on reality, but she is suffering from hunger pangs as vampires willing to let Elena gorge herself on them were the one thing in short supply.

“White Collar” Headed Towards Its Final Season, HBO Considers a Comeback for “The Comeback” and the Story Behind Blondie’s “Parallel Lines”

21 March 2014 4:58 AM, PDT | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

News

Fresh off all that media buzz about how HBO’s cult comedy The Comeback should get a comeback (sorry, I had to go there eventually), HBO is considering reviving it as a limited series. I’m excited and wary, The Comeback was an amazing, ahead-of-its-time series. It’s pretty dangerous trying to recapture that kind of magic, especially when one of the minds behind it now works on the aggressively regressive 2 Broke Girls.

It’s disappointing news but we were warned it was probably coming. USA has ordered a final, six-episode season of White Collar. Is it just me or have we been talking about a lot of USA dramas heading to their series finales, lately?

I’m going to miss these guys saving each other.

Marvel announced that Patton Oswalt will be appearing on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Agent Eric Koenig, one of the Howling Commandos. »
