What Will Happen When Will Ferrell Hosts SNL?

Tomorrow night, Will Ferrell returns to host Saturday Night Live for the third time — and will be the third SNL alumnus, after Jimmy Fallon and Maya Rudolph, to do so this season. As with his former colleagues, Ferrell poses a challenge to the SNL prognosticator in that it's tough to guess which of his dozens of returning characters he'll want to revive. Then there's the fact that the project Ferrell is presumably there to promote (the feature film The Campaign) doesn't come out until August. Will he bother to flog it? Would he balk at reprising his Harry Caray or Robert Goulet just because both those gentlemen happened to have passed away? Will Ferrell, who anchored the "Saturday Night Live" cast from 1995 to 2002, is returning to studio 8H on May 12 to host the late-night sketch show for the third time since his departure 10 years ago, reports Entertainment Weekly.
Three new episodes will end the show's 37th season - Eli Manning hosting on May 5, Ferrell on May 12 and the finale episode, whose host is yet to be announced. Usher is the musical guest for Ferrell's appearance.

It was just announced that Will Ferrell will return to Studio 8H on May 12 to host Saturday Night Live for the first time since 2009!
Historically SNL pretty much lets Will take the wheel as host (as they should) and try out any character that comes to mind.

Personally, I'm praying that fans get some sort of Anchorman homage -- whether it's in the monologue or Weekend Update. But there are also a whole treasure trove of characters Will could resurrect when he hits the stage. Here are the Top 5 famous Ferrell folks I'm hoping to see on May 12!

With ace impressionists of ludicrous stars (Jay Pharoah's Will Smith, Vanessa Bayer's Miley Cyrus, Nasim Pedrad's Kim Kardashian) in the cast, Will could have a field day with a new round of Celebrity Jeopardy!
