Was named one of the top ten producers of the decade by Billboard in 2009, was awarded Producer of the Year and Songwriter of the Year awards in 2009 and won the Songwriter of the Year Award at the 2010 and 2011 American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Pop Music Awards. Gottwald was also named both the Number One Hot 100 Songwriter of the Year and Number One Producer of the Year by Billboard.
Is a known music producer. Responsible, in whole or in part, for the following chart-topping songs: "Since U Been Gone," by Kelly Clarkson (2004); "Girlfriend," by Avril Lavigne (2007); "Right Round," by Flo Rida (2009); "Tik Tok," by Kesha (2009); "I Kissed a Girl," and "California Gurls," by Katy Perry; among others.
His mother, Laura, is from an Ashkenazi Jewish family. His father, Janusz Jerzy Gottwald, is an immigrant of Polish heritage (he was originally from Lask, Poland).
