Halloween 4: The Return Of Michael Myers

Stars: Donald Pleasence, Danielle Harris, Ellie Cornell, George P. Wilbur, Beau Starr, Kathleen Kinmont | Written by Alan B. McElroy | Directed by Dwight H. Little

Ten years to the day of that fateful Halloween when the adult Michael Myers first terrorized the sleepy town of Haddonfield, Illinois, the malevolent monster awakes from a decade-long coma, escapes incarceration and returns home. His latest prey is his niece, Jamie Lloyd, a young girl whose short life has been plagued by recurring nightmares involving her evil uncle. The only man aware of the true horror of the situation is Dr. Sam Loomis, Michael’s childhood psychiatrist and now the killer’s nemesis.

Picking up the Halloween story from the end of part two and bringing back the series’ iconic villain, Halloween 4 sees the franchise begin a thread of continuity that would continue on into the next two »

Review – Halloween 4 & Halloween 5 Blu-Ray

25 August 2012 1:01 PM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

Ever since Blu-Ray won the digital home theater war over HD DVD as the dominant format, it’s been inevitable that slowly but surely, we’d be getting all the Halloween movies all over again. I can think of no other franchise whose titles I’ve purchased several times over on DVD. (Hell, even on VHS!) So this fall is essentially what us Michael Myers fanatics have been bracing ourselves for. Anchor Bay Entertainment unleashed the Blu-Ray debuts of Halloween 4: The Return Of Michael Myers and Halloween 5: The Revenge Of Michael Myers earlier this week. Die hard Halloween enthusiasts are going to pick them up no matter what, but I’m sure the rest of you are wondering, is it worth the double (or quadruple) dip? Here’s a quick summery on the plots of the 2 films and then we’ll delve right into what’s new on these Blu-Rays. »

Blu-ray Review: Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers

24 August 2012 8:40 AM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

John Carpenter didn't know what he was unleashing in 1978 when his independent slasher Halloween hit theaters. It was a runaway sensation which spawned hundreds of imitators and continues to even now. Whenever a movie is financially successful, you can bet on it studios are going to demand a sequel. Halloween II followed the original in 1981 without Carpenter's direction. It picked up exactly where the first one left off.

An attempt to take the Halloween franchise into a different direction without the help of serial killer Michael Myers chopping away at victims failed in a third movie. The decision was made to re-instate the successful formula of the first two films with the next installment, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. Anchor Bay released a new Blu-ray version of the 1988 movie and it looks marvelous.

It's the 10th anniversary of the Halloween night massacre in Haddonfield, Illinois. Michael Myers escapes »

What Happened To The Halloween 4 & 5 Blu-Ray’s?!

8 August 2012 8:40 AM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

Several months back and hot on the heels of the great news that Shout Factory was kicking off their new label “Scream Factory” with brand new proper special editions for the vastly underrated sequels Halloween II and Halloween III: Season Of The Witch, Anchor Bay also announced their intentions to release Blu-Ray editions of Halloween 4: The Return Of Michael Myers and Halloween 5: The Revenge Of Michael Myers.  Most notable to fellow die-hard fans from the original press release was news that Halloween 4 would feature 30 minutes of deleted and extended scenes! Tack on a brand new commentary from director Dwight H. Little and these Anchor Bay releases were “shaping” up to be getting the same love and care as the Shout Factory releases. Well… not so fast.

The Blu-Ray editions are set to be released on August 21st and for La residents, fan favorite local shop Dark Delicacies is planning a huge signing event. »

Remastered Halloween 4 & 5 Blu-ray’s Coming August 28th!

26 June 2012 1:00 AM, PDT | iconsoffright.com | See recent Icons of Fright news »

Looks like Anchor Bay hasn’t quite abandoned releasing their catalog of cult films in favor of new independent features. While their output is nothing like their Criterion-esque releases during the heyday of DVD, they’ve managed to squeeze out fan favorites onto Blu-ray since the format’s inception. One title we can always guarantee to see multiple releases of is John Carpenter’s Halloween, which saw a myriad of editions on VHS & DVD, with only 1 Blu-ray release (so far). Anchor Bay’s other bread & butter title is the other Moustapha Akkad owned films, Halloween 4 & Halloween 5 and according to HalloweenMovies, August 28th sees the inaugural Blu-ray release that’s not only remastered in HD but includes brand new and old extras! Read on for all the details!
