Hillary Clinton, Cardi B and More Participate in Fire and Fury Spoken Word Auditions at the 2018 Grammys
Attention Grammy voters: The Best Spoken Word Album category just got a bit more competitive for 2019. During tonight's 2018 Grammy Awards, James Corden wanted to point out non singers who have picked up trophies in year's past. As it turns out, the Best Spoken Word Album has been won by Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Barack Obama and other familiar politicians. "We know that our current president loves winning the award and the good news for him is he may just be the subject of next year's winner," James joked when bringing up the highly publicized Fire and Fury book written by Michael Wolff. "The question I've got is, who will be the narrator?" In a pre-taped segment,...

'Awards Chatter' Podcast — Al Gore ('An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power')

'Awards Chatter' Podcast — Al Gore ('An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power')
"I'm grateful to have found other ways to serve," says Al Gore, the politician turned climate-change crusader, as we sit down at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills to record an episode of The Hollywood Reporter's 'Awards Chatter' podcast. Gore, who was the 45th vice president of the United States and, many would argue, its duly elected 43rd president, was in town to try to call renewed attention to An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power, Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk's documentary about his tireless efforts to raise the alarm about climate change during the past 11 years since...

Al Gore Hits Oscar Trail as Paramount Unveils 'Inconvenient Sequel' Spot (Exclusive)

On Friday morning, just as Oscar nomination voting got underway, Paramount Pictures unveiled a new spot it has created promoting its Oscar-shortlisted documentary feature An Inconvenient Sequel, in which former vice president Al Gore continues his crusade to inform the public about climate change.

The studio hopes that the film, which was co-directed by Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk, will follow in the footsteps of 2006's An Inconvenient Truth, which won the best documentary feature and best original song Oscars 11 years ago. And they appear to have calculated — probably wisely — that the strongest argument for the film is...

The 'Honorable’ Omarosa Manigault: All the Drama from Her Extended 15 Minutes of Fame in the White House
It isn’t her first fall from grace involving Donald Trump but it might be the biggest. This week, the White House announced the resignation of reality-tv-star-turned-political-aide Omarosa Manigault Newman — while insiders countered that she was escorted off the White House grounds in a dramatic ousting.

Manigault Newman, who was fired by Trump three times on various seasons of The Apprentice, has rebutted reports that she faced the same fate in her White House position. But there’s no denying her downfall. Here’s a look back at the low points leading up to her White House departure.

Omarosa’s 9 Biggest Feuds, From ‘The Apprentice’ to the Trump White House (Photos)
White House aide Omarosa Manigault was fired by the Trump administration on Tuesday, reportedly having to be “physically dragged and escorted” off the premises. But that’s hardly the first time the “Apprentice” alum has gotten into a high-profile disagreement since coming into the public eye over a decade ago. Tuesday’s dismissal was not the first time Manigault was fired from a position in the White House. During her first appearance on “The Apprentice” in 2004, Manigault frequently bragged about her experience working with then-Vice President Al Gore. However, it was later reported that she cycled through four positions in two.

Sundance 2018: New Frontier Slate Heads To Space & Beyond With Black Eyed Peas, Rosario Dawson & Frankenstein Along For The Ride

Film News Roundup: Vaccine Documentary ‘Pathological Optimist’ Lands at Film Arcade, Gravitas
In today’s film news roundup, Miranda Bailey’s vaccine documentary “The Pathological Optimist” gets distribution and Lionsgate teams with Roadside Attractions to pick up faith-based drama “I Can Only Imagine.”

Acquisitions

The Film Arcade and Gravitas Ventures have acquired rights to Miranda Bailey’s documentary “The Pathological Optimist,” centered on anti-vaccination crusader Dr. Andrew Wakefield.

The film will be released theatrically by the Film Arcade on Sept. 29 followed by a VOD release via Gravitas later this year.

The film is a character study of Wakefield, one of 13 co-authors of a 1998 paper in the U.K. medical journal the Lancet. That paper claimed that there was a link between the administration of the measles, mumps, and rubella (Mmr) vaccine, and the appearance of autism and bowel disease. Wakefield was accused of professional misconduct and falsifying information in that study, and the Lancet retracted the piece in 2010 and the United Kingdom’s General Medical Council revoked Wakefield’s

Interview, Audio: Directors Bonni Cohen & Jon Shenk of ‘An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power’

Chicago – The beauty of ex-Vice President Al Gore is that whenever his name is mentioned we think about his central passion… how Planet Earth is changing due to greenhouse gases and pollution. His groundbreaking “An Inconvenient Truth” documentary is a cultural icon, and now he is back with the aptly titled “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power,” co-directed by Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk.

This is both an update of the first and a cause for optimism. Al Gore has his slideshow – which is being updated almost day-by-day, as depicted in the documentary – and there are ominous and apocalyptic signs still in the picture (Miami is altering its infrastructure because of rising ocean levels), but also there are true success stories as a result of Gore’s crusade. The wind and sun power industries are viable and becoming profitable enough to be adopted, plus the word is out.. in

Ralph Reed Jr. sold soul to Trump, Real Time highlights

Last night, Bill Maher broke the hiatus and came back with a vengeance. It was his mid-show guest Ralph Reed Jr. who created the biggest hoopla with his defense of Donald Trump and mega-churches being allowed to push political agendas from the pulpit. This week’s other guests were Vice President Al Gore who was the top of the show interview, and panelists Kristen Soltis Anderson, Joshua Green, Michael Weiss. The big story comes from Maher’s affable interview that turned south as Ralph Reed Jr., a frequent Maher guest, defended Trump vigorously and lauded his good work advancing the Evangelical political...read more
