The Definitive Interview with the Writers of 500 Days of Summer

31 December 2009 3:36 PM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

It's fitting that on the very last day of 2009 I run my final interview with the screenwriters of my favorite movie of 2009. 500 Days of Summer is, hands down, my favorite movie of the year. Although I saw the film for my first time in January at Sundance, at the beginning of the year, it has remained my favorite. I've been lucky enough to interview everyone involved in the movie: director Marc Webb, stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel, and now the screenwriters - Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber. This is the definitive interview about 500 Days of Summer, every last question about it is answered, so read on! Watch my interview with 500 Days of Summer writers Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber: For anyone interested, I've included a transcript of the complete interview below, in case you'd like to read the interview instead of watch it. 500 Days of »

Deciphering Chris Nolan’s ‘Inception’

30 December 2009 3:36 PM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

So the first trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Inception recently appeared online, but I’m still hearing some people say that if the trailer wasn’t stamped with “from the director of The Dark Knight” they would have little motivation to actually care about the movie.

Now granted, Inception has maintained an air of almost total mystery every since we first learned of its existence, but with the clues that have been carefully sprinkled here and there, we here at Screen Rant think there’s enough potential for this to be a breakout film in 2010. We’ll explain why, with some hi-res photos helping to paint the picture (click on any still image below for a hi-res version).

So let’s take a crack at the most obvious question – What is Inception all about?

In past coverage of the movie, we’ve learned that Leonardo DiCaprio stars as “a CEO »

2009: The Truffles – The HeyUGuys Awards

30 December 2009 2:32 PM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

With the proliferation of Top Tens and Best Of lists on the internet at this time of year we wanted to try something a little different.

2009 was an important year for the business of cinema; games were changed with the acquiescence of audiences to the notion of 3D, low budgets met with large returns, old franchises spawned reboots and rebakes with varying success, the British film industry remained strong and gave us some bright new stars in our sky.

We asked our writers to come up with an alternative set of awards which would honour those films, directors and actors who made 2009 such an enjoyable year. Strong emotions are rendered in strong language, be warned if words offend.

So, here now, I present to you our awards for 2009 – The Truffles.

Tracy

2009 meant, for me, the respectable return to sci-fi.  Star Trek, District 9, Moon and now Avatar showed that sci-fi »

Leo DiCaprio Thinks Fast, Looks Hot in New Inception Trailer

30 December 2009 7:30 AM, PST | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

It's got a hot leading man in the form of Leonardo DiCaprio; costars including a grown-up, post-Juno Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy and Ken Watanabe; supercool visual effects; a heart-pounding score; and, oh yeah, it's director Christopher Nolan's first flick since his Dark Knight became the second-highest grossing film of all time behind James Cameron's Titanic. So what's the big idea? At first glance, it's a story about a guy who's out to steal some newfangled concept that allows people to build cities and other things in the matrix of their mind. It's no Vertigo. But it sounds like something Hitchcock would do if he were alive today. »

Second Inception Trailer with HD Links

29 December 2009 9:57 AM, PST | TheHDRoom | See recent TheHDRoom news »

Warner Bros. has dropped a second teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's Inception and, like the first, tells us very little other than to expect the unexpected.

The film's official tagline is "a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind" and the trailer confirms that a crime has been committed within someone's mind, most likely Leonardo Dicarpio's CEO-type character. But is he asleep or awake during this trailer? Or both?

There's a great shot of a city literally folding over on itself as Ellen Page and DiCaprio look on. This must be in his mind, or their mind ala The Matrix. Either way, Nolan likely has some great twists up his sleeve.

Inception also stars Ken Watanabe as the "bad guy," Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Batman Begins' Cillian Murphy. Look for it in theaters on July 16.

Trailer: U.S. version of Christopher Nolan’s ‘Inception’ lands online

29 December 2009 4:15 AM, PST | ReelLoop.com | See recent Reel Loop news »

Warner Bros. has released the second trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Inception. Yesterday, the studio yanked the French trailer and, we’re not sure if they had planned to release the U.S. this soon, but here it is for your eyeballs.

The same thing happened in November when the Russian trailer for Angelina Jolie’s Salt landed online. The trailer was quickly squashed and replaced with a U.S. version because we just can’t handle foreign shite.

Inception revolved around a “CEO-type” who who becomes involved in a blackmailing scandal. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page (Juno), Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai), the lovely Marion Cotillard (La Vie en Rose), Joseph Gordon Levitt ((500) Days of Summer), Tom Hardy (RocknRolla), Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins), Tom Berenger and Michael Caine.

Inception hits theaters on July 16.

Leonardo DiCaprio Reveals His Mission in 'Inception' Trailer

28 December 2009 9:09 PM, PST | Celebrity Mania | See recent Celebrity Mania news »

A brand new trailer for "Inception" has just been released, and it gives a closer look at Leonardo DiCaprio as main character Cobb. While the promo video, which came out courtesy of Apple, still doesn't help to explain what the movie will be dealing with, it does tease on that Cobb's mission is stealing ideas.

In addition to displaying footage of an entire city folding over on itself, the sneak peek to the sci-fi movie exposes some of the scenes in which Cobb is joined by his sidekick Ariadne, played by Ellen Page. It also shares more glimpses on other characters, including Ken Watanabe's Saito.

Described as a "contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind", "Inception" is based on an original script written by "The Dark Knight" director Christopher Nolan. In addition to serving as director, he will carry out the role of co-producer along with Emma Thomas. »

New Inception Trailer Hits

A new trailer for Inception has been released and it looks amazing. The shot of the buildings folding up into the air is incredible and with more of the story being revealed Inception is looking every bit the Christopher Nolan revolutionary action film we are hoping for.

I for one can’t wait to see Leonardo DiCaprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt facing off in this fascinating anything-goes gobsmacker of a film and with Nolan pushing IMAX to its limits; Inception is going straight to the top of my films-to-see of 2010.

The New 'Inception' Trailer Finally Debuts in English

28 December 2009 11:48 AM, PST | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

Photo: Warner Bros. The previously released French international trailer for Inception was removed as it was accidentally made available to online outlets, but today the English version of that trailer has made it's online debut and I am sure you are chomping at the bit to hit play on the video below.

Inception is the new film from The Dark Knight helmer Christopher Nolan and stars Leonardo Dicaprio, Ellen Page, Ken Watanabe, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Cillian Murphy. The only plot clue we have is the line describing the film is "a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind."

Make of that what you will. I haven't watched the trailer and am holding out for the film's July 16, 2010 release. So if you like it let it be known in the comments below.

You can watch the trailer in high definition at Apple. »

Second teaser for Nolan's Inception

28 December 2009 11:42 AM, PST | QuietEarth.us | See recent QuietEarth news »

After seeing three different teasers for Christopher Nolan's upcoming Inception, I'm as baffled by the film as I was before seeing any footage from the film.

The film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ken Watanabe, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Cillian Murphy, Tom Berenger, Michael Caine, and Lukas Haas, is said to be a thriller which takes place inside someone's mind and that mind is pretty twisted to be coming up with some of these images. I'm still not sure what to make of this story but I'm more than happy to keep watching these trailers until the movie comes out. At this rate, I doubt anyone will know what the thing's about even after seeing it once never mind trying to piece things together from the bits they're giving us.

Trailer after the break. Also be sure to check out the first teaser and the French trailer. »

Movie Preview: DiCaprio, Page, Gordon-Levitt in Inception

28 December 2009 11:30 AM, PST | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

Back in August we got a glimpse at Christopher Nolan's Inception, but the latest trailer is definitely more exciting. The preview doesn't give away a ton of the plot, but the special effects speak for themselves (DiCaprio's short narrative helps a bit, too). From what I've gathered, the futuristic plot takes us to a world where certain events can be controlled with the mind. DiCaprio's the good guy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's morality is questionable, and there's a whole lot of mind-bending action to feast your eyes on. Christopher Nolan creates yet another gloomy, gray city (reminiscent of Gotham in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight), making this look like a fun one to see in the theater. The star-studded cast also includes Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard, Cillian Murphy, and Ken Watanabe. To check it out, just read more. »

New 'Inception' Trailer Still Brings The Weird

28 December 2009 10:35 AM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

We've been waiting for it, and here it is! Apple has unveiled the second trailer for Christopher Nolan's Inception, which definitely gives us a bit more than the first -- including the first clues as to what this sucker is actually about -- but remains restrained, dazzling us with strange visions of sideways people and a determined Leonardo DiCaprio. Based on what we've already learned and what we see here, it appears the film will follow people who have somehow figured out a way to hijack the human mind and enter the space in order to steal an idea. Hence all the trippy slo-mo shots of people falling sideways and fighting in mid-air -- it would appear as if Nolan has created his own Matrix-like world inside the human mind, and unleashed his powerful ensemble cast to do his dirty work.
