Nickelodeon is adding toon programs “Bad Seeds” and “Pig Goat Banana Cricket” to its series slate, ordering 26 episodes of each show.
“Bad Seeds,” created, written and directed by C.H. Greenblatt, centers on a sweet and well-meaning bird who makes two new best friends who are the wildest kids in the forest.
“Pig Goat Banana Cricket” is from Dave Cooper and J. Ryan and follows four friends and roommates — a fool, an artist, a wise-guy and a brain. David Sacks exec produces and writes “Pig Goat Banana Cricket” with Ryan.
The tyke cable net has also greenlit four live-action pilots: “Twang,” a comedy about a family that relocates from Hollywood to Tennessee from Andy Gordon; “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Don,” a project about 13-year-old quadruplets from Matt Fleckstein; “Smart Alec,” a show about kid geniuses from Adam Schwartz and Tommy Lynch; and a comedy about a cheerleader from Nickelodeon Diversity Fellowship alums Gabriel Garza and Jonathan Butler. »

Nickelodeon is expanding its original programming with a slew of new orders. The kids cable network greenlighted animated series Bad Seeds, from SpongeBob SquarePants' C.H. Greenblatt (art above), and Pig Goat Banana Cricket (art below), The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Both series, which will be produced through Nickelodeon Animation Studio, have received 26-episode pickups. Comedy writer-producer Andy Gordon has set up half-hour projects at Fox and Nickelodeon. At Fox, he has Falling Into Place, a multi-camera ensemble comedy about five college friends who, four or five years out of college, each experiences a loss and tries to overcome it. 20th TV is producing. At Nickelodeon, where Gordon previously created and executive produced True Jackson VP, he has country-themed multi-camera comedy Twang, about the four semi-spoiled children of a country music star who are relocated from their privileged life in Los Angeles to their mother’s childhood home in Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee. UTA-repped Gordon serves as co-executive producer on TV Land’s upcoming Kirstie Alley sitcom Kirstie. He was recently an executive producer on ABC’s Last Man Standing and previously worked on Fox’s The Loop and Back To You. »
