Their spoilerific chat went like this: "Unlike Season 1, which found everyone at each other’s throats, Season 2 will begin with relative harmony between the men of New Orleans. “That finale was basically an apocalypse, but I suppose we’re a little more bonded than we’ve ever been,” Gillies says. 20 May 2014 4:40 PM, PDT | TVGuide - Breaking News | See recent TVGuide - Breaking News news »

Hope took on a new meaning by the end of The Originals Season 1 finale.

After being kidnapped by the witches, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) gave birth and was immediately killed. Fortunately, she had her child's blood in her body and was reborn, but this time as a hybrid. By the end of the hour, Hayley, along with Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah (Daniel Gillies), made the heartbreaking decision to give the baby, aptly named Hope, to the one person they could trust with keeping her safe — Rebekah (Claire Holt). With her new supernatural form, and after losing the only family she's ever known, Hayley will be at rock bottom when the series returns.

Interview: Daniel Gillies says 'Originals' season finale is 'non-stop'

13 May 2014 12:40 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

As Original vampire Elijah on "The Originals," Daniel Gillies is smooth, suit-wearing sophistication. In real life, Gillies may not drink blood (I'm assuming) but certainly he shares his character's thoughtful, smart perspective. The season finale is upon us (Tues. May 13 at 8:00 p.m. Et on the CW), and we already know, with Hayley in labor, big problems are afoot. The episode description suggests Klaus will be making a "heartbreaking decision," but we're given no clues about what challenges Elijah faces -- and you know there will be challenges. I talked to Gillies about whether or not Elijah will save the day (fingers crossed), why we both think Elijah is more invested in saving Hayley than anyone else and why Elijah will always be Team Klaus (and not Team Mikael).  When we left Elijah and Klaus at the end of last week's episode, Elijah seemed to be the only Original in working condition. »

'The Originals' finale: Daniel Gillies on the show's 'Darth Vader', and 'the beginning of the end for Elijah'

13 May 2014 10:58 AM, PDT | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

From the moment The Originals was pitched as a Vampire Diaries spin-off, it was talked about as the story of Klaus Mikaelson’s redemption, among other things, and what that would mean for this literally ancient family of vampires. And now, one season later, we’re only hours away from Klaus’ baby being born and what could be the start of a whole new Klaus. Then again, we could be hours away from Klaus going down his darkest road yet.

But one thing seems certain: Thanks to a romantic entanglement with Hayley, Klaus’ older brother Elijah will be just as affected by any outcome. »

'The Vampire Diaries': Can the Travelers be beaten?

8 May 2014 6:53 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Well, that certainly got real, didn't it? I'll admit I came into the episode a little late because I was talking to Daniel Gillies about "The Originals" season finale, so anything that happened in the first 13 minutes I'll have to revisit later. But I'm pretty convinced that the most shocking thing that could have happened was saved for the last two minutes of the show -- Stefan's death at Julian's hands. Yeah, death. As in he ripped out his damn heart. Looks like Enzo has a new buddy in the rapidly shrinking Other Side! * Okay, in those thirteen minutes I did miss a lot. Damon strapped on his hero hair, Liv and Luke discussed the folly of becoming friends with the doppelgangers they need to kill, and Stefan pushes Elena toward Damon. Again. The scenes between the two exes are easy and comfortable -- two old friends. I know, I know, »
