The Originals is wrapping up its third season tonight, but star Phoebe Tonkin says the episode might not turn out the way you're expecting it to—at least as far as Hayley and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) are concerned. Joseph Morgan gets by with a lot of help from his wife, Persia White. This week's episode of The Originals marks Morgan's television directorial debut. He's directed a few short films on the past, but never something on this scale, and he was surprised by how "huge" the episode ended up being in terms of sequences, stunts, and visual effects. The CW has renewed The Vampire Diaries spin-off The Originals for a fourth season. During its third season, The Originals and its sister-series were moved to Friday nights, which fans feared might telegraph that the shows would be cancelled. In January, during the TCA Winter press tour, CW President, Mark Pedowitz said, "The move is not to exile [the shows]. It’s a move to strengthen Friday night."
