- In 1997, he was released from his WCW contract after refusing to do the job for Jacquelyn. Disco returned to the promotion later in the year only after agreeing to wrestle her. However, Ted Turner had a 'no man against woman violence' clause on his networks so he had to avoid making physical contact with her throughout the entire match.
- In October 2001, he toured Australia with the World Wrestling All-Stars promotion.
- Introduced Chris Jericho to his wife Jessica.
- Had his own "Piper's Pit"-style interview segment in TNA titled "Jive Talkin'." It debuted on "NWA TNA #7" on July 31, 2002 and was canceled after "NWA TNA #9" on August 14th.
- In late 2000, he started carrying around a plastic duck that he called "Disco's Duck," a reference to Rick Dees 1976 novelty hit "Disco Duck.".
- Briefly changed his name to "Disqo" while a member of the Filthy Animals in WCW in 2000 in an attempt to capitalize on the success of the rapper Sisqó, whose hit "Thong Song" was popular at the same time.
