Featurette Goes Behind-The-Scenes Of ‘Monsters Inc. 3D’

20 December 2012 4:00 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Cast your mind all the way back to 2002 – I was an excitable 8 year-old, about to witness the brand new, totally original Disney Pixar creation Monsters Inc. Ten years later and the film is still classed as one of my favourites. With Monsters University scheduled for a summer 2013 release I am more than excited, but it’s going to be a rather long wait. However, the original ‘sequel’ is getting a re-release in January…in 3D!

Today we can bring you a featurette focusing on the conversion from plain old 2D to spectacular 3D. The 2D-3D debate has plagued cinema-going over the last few years, but in my humble opinion Monsters Inc. is one of those films which fits (and deserves) the transformation.

Starring the voices of John Goodman, Billy Crystal, Steve Buscemi, James Coburn, Jennifer Tilly, Bob Peterson, John Ratzenberger and Mary Gibbs, Monsters Inc. 3D hit Us cinemas yesterday (go see it! »

Mike and Sulley Return In Trailer & Poster For ‘Monsters, Inc. 3D’

5 September 2012 11:22 AM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

I still can’t grasp the reason for releasing a 2D trailer for a 3D theatrical rerelease online, but alas Disney has delivered one with Monsters, Inc. 3D. While we’ll see Mike and Sulley head back to college next summer for the prequel Monsters University, it looks like Pixar wants to remind everyone where they began (or rather, headed to) with a rerelease of their 2001 animated his. I’m quite content with my Blu-ray, but one can see the trailer and poster below via Apple for the film featuring voice acting from John Goodman, Billy Crystal, Mary Gibbs, Steve Buscemi, James Coburn, Jennifer Tilly, Bob Peterson, John Ratzenberger, Frank Oz and Bonnie Hunt.

'Boo Bass' Makes Music with 'Monsters, Inc.'

5 April 2012 4:34 PM, PDT | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

How does one make music out of "Monsters, Inc.," you wonder? The answer may come as a surprise — and most definitely as a delight.

"Boo Bass" is a light electronica ditty comprised of various sound bites from the animated Pixar classic, most of which are noises made by the film's young heroine, Boo (voiced by Mary Gibbs), and the excitable mini-monster, Mike (Billy Crystal) — with the occasional aside by good ol' Sulley (John Goodman).

It's strange little Internet miracles like this that make us wonder where the creators found their inspiration. Were they sitting around watching "Monsters, Inc." and suddenly thought, "Hey, let's make a song out of all this noise?" Whatever prompted the endeavor, the end result is a treat.

Check out "Boo Bass" below, featuring Nick Bertke's remix of music by Pogo and video editing by goldpikpikcarrots. Thanks to our pals at io9 for the find.

The Adorable 'Monsters, Inc.' Club Remix

The Australian DJ Pogo is a legend around these here internet parts for his ingenious remixes of Disney movies (and other things, but the Disney movies slay us most) into breathy, happy dance tracks. His latest, "Boo Bass," makes music out of the sounds and dialogue from Pixar's "Monster's Inc.," the cutest of all the Pixar movies (fact!).

As expected, Boo's little girl voice steals the show, followed closely by the deep stylings of Sully and Mike Wazowski, known outside of Monstropolis and its environs as Mary Gibbs, John Goodman and Billy Crystal, respectively. Check out the adorableness below, edited by longtime Pogo collaborator goldpikpikcarrots.
