Shock Interview: Don Coscarelli Talks John Dies At the End, Phantasm 5 and More!

26 December 2012 3:07 AM, PST | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

Don Coscarelli fans who’ve been waiting for his long-anticipated follow-up to Bubba Ho-tep have reason to get excited. The director’s adaptation of David Wong’s comedic horror novel John Dies at the End is finally seeing release (December 27th on VOD) after playing at a string of this year’s indie festivals, and it’s as wonderfully different from Bubba as Bubba was from Coscarelli’s breakthrough Phantasm saga.

As twisted as anything penned by William S. Burroughs or Philip K. Dick, John Dies pairs veteran actor Paul Giamatti with newcomers Rob Mays and Chase Williamson, in the tale of two paranormal adventurers who stumble upon a drug known as… Soy Sauce? It all makes sense on screen, or rather it doesn’t make sense, but – like the best head trips – in a good way. I sat down with Coscarelli last weekend to discuss John Dies at the End, »

It's been a long while since last we've heard anything out of the Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires camp, but one of the stars, Paul Giamatti, spoke a bit about the flick, confirming there is a script and raising our hopes even more. It'd be a Christmas miracle of the coolest kind!

“When I first met Don, it was just through funny circumstances. We got together and he told me he had the idea for a sequel to that, and I read the script, which was great,” Giamatti tells Collider. “I don’t know how much I would want to give away about it, though. The part I would play would be Colonel Parker, who was Elvis’ manager, and it was always a sinister relationship between the two of them, with how he had such control over him. The movie answers that question. It’s a vampire movie, and »

Dreamworks’ ‘Turbo’ Trailer Is Super Slow

21 December 2012 11:30 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

And I don’t mean slow in a bad way. Turbo is just one of Ryan Reynolds’ vocal performances in an animation released next year along with The Croods. Turbo focuses on a snail that loves to race. Only problem being, that he is of course, a snail. This first trailer is everything a good teaser should be. It first introduces us to a Formula 1 race with Reynolds giving us a voice-over. If the footage were in live-action I most certainly would have taken it seriously. We then cut to Turbo the snail as he begins his own race. Which takes a very long time indeed. It made me laugh, Reynolds’ performance sounds perfect, and best of all, the animation looks gorgeous. This could be a bit of another hit for Dreamworks.

Turbo is released 19th July 2013 in the Us and 18th October in the UK. It stars the vocal talents of Ryan Reynolds, »

Watch The New Trailer For DreamWorks Animation’s Turbo

21 December 2012 5:28 AM, PST | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Gentleman, start you engines. Along with a great voice cast that includes Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, Michael Pena, Luis Guzmán, Bill Hader, Richard Jenkins, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Ben Schwartz, Kurtwood Smith, Snoop Dogg,, and Samuel L. Jackson, check out the first trailer for DreamWorks Animation’s Turbo.

The scenes of the Indy Motor Speedway look incredible!

DreamWorks Animation’s Turbo is the story of a snail who dreams of being the greatest racer in the world, just like his hero, 5-time Indianapolis 500 champ, Guy Gagné. Turbo’s obsession with speed and all things fast has made him an outsider in the slow snail community, and a constant embarrassment to his cautious older brother, Chet.

Turbo desperately wishes he could escape the slow-paced life he’s living. He gets that chance after a freak accident when he suddenly finds himself vested with the power of incredible speed. »
