Geek icon Nathan Fillion will play an actor in a meta episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine...

Brooklyn Nine-Nine's stellar cast is about to get even better: geek icon and Firefly star Nathan Fillion has signed up for a guest spot alongside Andy Samberg, Stephanie Beatriz, Melissa Fumero, Andre Braugher, Chelsea Peretti, Terry Crews, Joe Lo Truglio and all the rest.

Entertainment Weekly broke the news, reporting that The mighty Mr Fillion will play Mark Devereaux, "star of a Law & Order-y show titled Serve & Protect."

He'll factor into the show as Jake and Rosa "investigate a crime that occurred on the Serve & Protect set, [and] Mark wants to assist the detectives by drawing on his decade of experience playing a detective."

Fans of Castle will see how this is a bit of a riff on his novelist-turned-crime-fighter performance therein.
